Hi all, following on from my previous thread/solution to doors not opening, could any one point me in the direction of a supplier for a new drivers side door mechanism. It is the mechanical part that i need, not the actuator/solinoid part as this is ok. all this because of a spring.mad
thanks in advance.

Could be new one this. you may well need to get the mech out and grab some snaps to allow us all to trawl local motor factors etc t try and work out what it's from.

£45, what's the betting they're out of a golf or something similar.

Have you still got your old one?

i did notice that there was a GM stamp on it but nothing else. if i take it back out i am worried that i will break the internal panel that conceals the whole thing i.e. the bit that the seat belt goes through. how do you actually remove the whole panel? i had to bend it out of the way felt like it was going to break at the slot for the seat belt.

McNasty ... Is the problem you had / trying to fix where you press the door open button, and you hear clicking - perhaps 3 or 4 before the door then opens ? This is what my newly acquired Cerb is doing - sometime it does not open unless, from the outside, I push the door a little and then it is released. It is obviously all doing what it should, except actually letting go of the door.

One of your previous posts talked about the spring somewhere in the mechanism ??

I Later found out there supposed to be out of a cavalier but to late as i just rang douglas valley and ordered one i found the fit pretty easy although like everything else on a cerbera awkward to get to. I gently pulled back the trim piece undid the three allen bolts and it came out easy putting back was a lot harder attaching the cable for the emergency release was the hardest bit.

Sorry didnt keep the old one

That is exactly the same problem i had, and as mentioned before it turned out to be an internal spring, couldn't be more than 50p for a replacement if you could get at it. Bit of a poor design ie riveting the two halfs of the casing together because there is a an integral spacer as part of the rivet. I have managed to fix it as i have said, however i would prefer to replace the mechanism if possible.

If any one has a car that is at present getting refurbished and could perhaps take a photo of the part in question that would be great. i dont mind trying to track down / source a replacement. I would take mine off again except my repaired spring is likely to fall out seeing as it is not riveted in place any more. Or if anyone has an old one they can post to me i will take to the motor factors, source replacements and return it to you.
