right guys n gals, currently 1k miles from blighty with a fkd master cylinder. stripped it down in the pi88ing rain this avo and the return spring has snapped in 3 places, so having bodged it back together with copper wire, i've limped to my hotel for the night but have a citroen, peugeot & ford dealer within striking distance. please someone tell me it's one of those 3! I would use the search but i'm posting this from my phone and that's a job in itself. going for a much needed beer now. thanks all.

I've had a quick search for you, the master cylinder is a Girling 64066117
model, the seal kit is part number SP2102.

I'm 99% sure that this is the same master cylinder as that used on my Triumph Spitfire and that it is an imperial sized unit rather than a metric one. Therefore, I think that it's going to be very unlikely that a Peugeot / Citroen etc one is going to drop straight in - so you need to see if they've got an old Rover / Triumph / Jag sitting in the yard!

Having said that, if it's just a spring that's gone, then hopefully you can find a good quality bodger to fix it for long enough to get you home.

Fingers crossed for you, enjoy the beerbeer

Howdy, It's a 0.70" Lucas/Girling item.

Seal kit is SP2102

Master cylinder listed as Girling #64066117 on a Chimaera equivelent parts thread.

This is the item.

Merlin Motorsport]

It "may" have been used in a mkI COrtina, but the chances of getting one of those in Europe is non-existant I would say.

Best bet would be to get one next day'd to you.

What is often overlooked is that TVR often changed the size of the pipe fittings so that the replacements from whatever have the same cylinder body but a different threaded hole for the pipe... This has caused more anquish than losing a penalty shoot out. Worth getting the fitting to go with the unit.

The other thing is that the push rod may need to be swapped over from the original unit. So don't throw it away!

I seem to remember you and I on that same hoon a couple of years ago Robin and the hotel parked us outside their entrance ..... and we both proceeded to jack up our cars and try to fix them outside their front door.
