Hi

After much effort I got my Alternator off today!

People have said its a Lucas unit which is fitted to the Cerbie! My unit is a Magnet Marell A1271
Is there a differance if so what, all so is the Lucas one easier to fit? as mine was a B - - - - - d to remove.

Don`t think that different make of alternator would be easier to fit. Mine is on a 4.2 and I removed the fuel rail first. Also found that using a magnetic pen (like an extending car aerial with magnet on end) was useful for posistioning spacer and washers etc. I have to do it all again tomorrow because the one I got off ebay was knackered so I`ve bought a new one with warranty! Good luck. Regards Tim

Magneti Marelli is the original part, though you can get other makes with the same casing design, and thus same fitment. You can now also get some cheap Chinese(?) unbranded ones which look the same but with no brand name.Do you have to remove the throttle bodies on a 4.5 to change the alternator?I removed mine when i did it as it just looked easier but wondered if it was possible to extract it somehow without?Even adjusting the belt tension wasnt the easiest with the throttle bodies in place!
