Any ideas what the following could be? (I have checked the clutch fluid and I have searched the forum but found nothing).

When the engine is cold I cannot engage any gear and if I stop the engine and force it into gear the bite point is beyond the floor of the car when I start it again.

If I start the car and let the engine heat up (5-10 mins), the gears engage as normal and the problem disappears until i let the engine cool for 5+ hours and the same problem happens.

I had a new clutch fitted by a main dealer exactly 6012 miles ago, and the pisser is the warranty only was for 6000 miles, any ideas?

cheers

I have checked the fluid and wasn't too low but topped it up, hoping that was the problem. Did not make any difference same problem.

Next job is to bleed the system and see what happens. If that does bot help im going to change the master cylinder (pain in the ass apparently). If that doesn't work I am all out of ideas.

Have to wait till next weekend I've given up for today.

BTW - Why did TVR hide the clutch resevoire with that black bubble fibre glass thing?

Check the clutch pedal adjustment,(nut on threaded rod behind pedal),you just may need to adjust the travel.

could be the gearbox oil, or lack of, stopping the forks or synchros from lining up but it wouldn't explain the bite point

Dont know much about clutches, but the fact that it works better when warm, rather than cold, tends to suggest that maybe worn plates are expanding enough to work when warm, but when cold and contracted they just arent enough? Either way, consumer law says that you have some recourse in the fact that it has failed so closely to the end of a warranty. If you pay a lot of money for goods and they fail just out of warranty then the law is your friend.Being so close to the mileage limit should mean that a lot of the cost of rectifying the problem should not fall on yourself.if it is the clutch itself then hopefully you have delt with a company that will be decent enough to be sympathetic to just how unlucky you have been anyway, warranty wise. But if they simply dont want to know then use your rights, clutches on ANY car should last longer than 6k of normal use,or they simply arent 'fit for the purpose'.
