On the way to work this morning along the motorway, accelerated to overtake a car and the bonnet lifted about 5 inches
Slammed on the anchors and thankfully the bonnet sunk back down again (I was thinking it was going to dissapear into the sunset!).
Mental note - must make sure bonnet is locked after checking oil levels

Even after replacing the rods and plates on mine it still kept popping up. A set of these solved it permanently

They look nice too, fit nicely above the existing catch locations and the pin goes in one of the original bolt holes after re tapping it to M10

There has been a lot about this and the benifits of the underbody splitter just in front of the engine bay that stops the air ramming into the engine compartment. The other argument seems to come about which way they should face forwrd or backwards and i have seen both. I had my son make one 30" wide an inch to pop rivet it on and one inch facing forward with a 25 degree down angle. Fitted it drove to London and back 70 miles each way at a normal Cerb speed??? lets say more than enough to cause the lifting problem and it was not untill I got home and went to open the bonnet to check all was well to find I had forgotten to lock it? Mines a LW and very flimsy did not move at all? It does seem arguable which way around they should be fitted but dam it worked. Big problem is if you go over any bump were the wheels are not going up and over the same hump and you do turn into a bulldozer as i found out on my Dads drive. It actually sits right between the wheels so normal speed bumps are not a problem. I am no expert on areo dynamics but must help keeping the front down a little as well??
