12.1 1/4 mile at the Pod today! Amazing......
Discussion
Well, the weather was good and I had little else planned, so the missus and I headed off to the Pod today, mainly to see the US cars as it was a US Special (I'm still pining for a C6 Z06). Unfortunately, it was very quiet and although I hadn't really planned on running the Cerb, with no queue I thought sod it. I did 2 runs only, the first I bogged it badly - nearly stalling - but still pulled a 12.9 to beat the other car (classic yank muscle, not sure what!?). 2nd attempt I did bog a bit, but the tyres took everything in first and after that she pulled really well. When I got the timing slip I couldn't really believe I'd just done a 12.1 @ 116 run. So happy with the car, it just keeps getting stronger and stronger. To think that was with normal FK452 tyres at normal pressures with very firm rear suspension as well. And it's ONLY a 4.2
On the way there I ended up behind an M3 CSL too - since I always, just always, seem to attract knobs in M3s - I thought I'd return the favour and have a bit of fun with him. Well he bolted, and through each gear I had to lift off quite comfortably - I don't think he was best pleased. It's really hard to describe just how awesome the V8 Cerb is. I love it to bits!!
This is the 12.4 from 2006:

And this is todays 12.1:

Looks like my launch in 2006 was better (i.e. 60ft time), but the top end now seems much stronger - the 1/8 mile time was virtually identical for both runs. I was into 4th gear on both occasions. Next Sunday I'm off to Woodbridge for an event run by straightliners - 1.5 mile VMAX

I've got 452's on my car atm but it won't take full beans in 2nd, let alone 1st.
I don't know how long they've been on there, maybe they've gone hard, but it does make me wonder how anyone gets a decent launch in these cars.
Fair play though, that's a good 1/4, a lot of quick bikes would be happy with that.

Pretty much - apart from a remap, ACT manifolds, decat and ACT Sports Pipes. Its been dyno'd twice in the last 2 years, with the average being 370bhp and 330ftlb - good figures for a 4.2 but there are more powerful Cerbs out there.

Hey Nelly, I've been told that Fighting Torque will go ahead this year sometime in August, although I am no longer really involved in this event. I am going to Woodbridge next Sunday however for an event run by straightliners - they claim to be hosting a timed 1 and 1.5 mile all for £60 which seems too good an opportunity to miss. No head to head racing, but still a chance to maybe see the far side of 170. A few of the Viper crowd are going along. I'll go if the weathers good, forecast looks ok so far.Still can't believe you didn't record our race - that must have been the slowest overtaking manoeuvre of the day for sure

I can still see you rocking backwards and forwards in the driver's seat yelling:
"COME ONNNN!!!!"
Well done on your 1/4 time BTW.
Only a gnats off the Cerb record of 11.9!

Windsor that's a great time and with an improved launch which you know you can do there is a 12.0 there somewhere. I reckon your engine has loosened up nicely and from your splits you seem to be keeping good traction between gear changes (full throttle yet?).
Have fun at Straightliners, was down to go but have to miss it due to other unknown at the time commitments.
Post up how you get on.
Jules.

Will do Jules, the weather is looking good at the moment, fingers crossed it'll hold. I know there are three guys from the Viper forum going, not sure who/what else will be there.
I think it'll be a bit of a mixture of Supercars and Jap fast cars, should be a good day and am keen to know how it goes in comparison to Fighting Torque / Vmax etc..If it get's the green light from you then it'll be another evnt to add to the list, just need another car now to make it more worthwhile.Jules.
