As the title says, I accidently pulled out the cigarette lighter - housing and all, leaving a hole with the power lead exposed. Problem is, the power lead will not come out of teh hole in order to get the lighter assembly re-connected.

So I pulled the wire a bit....

....now, no horn, no interior light, no stereo.

Not checked the fuse yet, as it's probably due to me pulling at the wire and unpluging something. Question is, how easy is it to get behing the panel housing the cigarette lighter?

I did the same a few months back, but managed to refit it. The wire is short, but managed to get my hand/fingers behind the panel to replace it. Very fiddly though.

I think you might have blown the fuse, as they are all on the smae curcuit. I think its fuse no 8, and is 15A, but check anyway.

Why not lengthen the wire to make life easier?

can't physically get to the wire - it's in teh hole where the lighter was - not enough slack to work with!

Cant you get your fingers behind the trim, or use some long nosed pliers. I know its awkward. If I remember, isn't there a small 'nodule' on the end of the wire, so just lengthening it not straight forward.

Just found this on www.tvrfreak.com/

Lighter
If it has come away from fixings inc. power lead (I use it as a phone charger) The whole lighter inside bit screws into a threaded thingy. OK, not much help, but if you grovel about behind the dash you'll see the butt it screws into. This kind of 'clamps' the unit into the dash. It's probably still held on by the wires to the back of the lighter. Screwing the lighter back in is the easy bit, but this usually means knocking the wires off, and I recall they were a sod to put back on as there's not much space to work in. You might want to turn it the other way before screwing it in, so that the twisted wire behind untwists as you screw it in.
