450bhp Ebay Cerbera
Discussion
"Not to be confused with the normal 4.0 or 4.2L Cerberas. This is a whole different animal with a
whopping 420bhp as standard over the 4.2's 360bhp.
...It has a very expensive de-catted
stainless exhaust system fitted which sounds simply unbelievable.
This pipe is the only modification and it pushes the power up a little so you can realistically expect it to be
around the 450bhp mark and probably 200mph"
Good salemanship or pub talk?
Dunno why you all went for expensive tuneups and intake pipes

I did call the guy about this car when advertised a while ago. He was on holiday so was unable to arrange a viewing, in the meantime I purchased mine.
He then sent an email to me and 40 other buyers asking us to get in touch as he wasn't sure who had offered what.
Glad I purchased the other one.

In fairness, it actually look's pretty nice.
I agree that's why I was going to have a look, but advertising your car whilst your on holiday is not the greatest idea.I can happily say I never expected mine to be anywhere near 420bhp, and would imagine it's around the 350 mark.
Good luck to him though, nice looking car.

Short induction isn't the be-all and end-all. Joo originally tuned mine to 391bhp with standard pipes....http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1020274.htm

Yep, appreciate that was a slighty truncated sentiment re short induction and I didn't mean to imply you can't go more than 350 or so without it, but it does requires work remapping etc and as he states the exhaust as the only mod so I'll stick with a 350 guestimate in his case. Either way as I understand it 390 is really about as far as you will get with the standard induction, so the comment was more about that without it he wouldn't have a chance of breaking into the 400 club let alone getting to the heady heights of 450 (which so far is the preserve of Harry's road car and Mike's racer).
I actually agree that the car looks nice, I love that colour and the price is alluring. But you do risk making yourself look a numpty when you make silly claims like that, I'd want to buy from a real enthusiast who understands the cars and has got to know them during ownership... claims like that just make you think he doesn't have a scooby about them. And of course you p

Sometimes it's not a bad thing to buy a Cerb from a Guy who knows nothing about them. To them it's just a car, and when it needs servicing they take it to get it serviced.
In this case, it may be worthwile giving the seller the benefit of doubt. He knows nothing about them, he's read the original factory quoted figures of 420hp for the 4.5 (see example below), calculated that decats may have given him an additional 5% or so Hp, and so quoted 450.
TVR Cerbera Engine:
Cylinders 8
Aspiration/Induction Normal
Displacement 4185.00 cc | 255.4 cu in. | 4.2 L.
Horsepower 420.00 HP (309.1 KW) @ 6500.00 RPM
Torque 320.00 Ft-Lbs (433.9 NM) @ 4500.00 RPM
HP to Weight Ratio 5.9 LB / HP
HP / Liter 100.0 BHP / Litre

He must know something as he's selling through PH.
One would assume he knows about the forums?

A decent honest advert is the best way of getting a prospective buyer to look at the car, as I would imagine the vast majority of people who want a Cerbera are doing so on the back of seeing one, finding out what it is
and then doing some research....
