is it possible to rebuild the oil pump.
i would like my hot oil pressure to be a bit higher i have replace the spring and checked the comperssions and all is well there with no smoking ect the car runns really well.
but i still think it should be higher sometimes when really hot it gets as low as 20-25 psi at idle.

I don't think that there's anything wrong with your oil pressure.
So long as it's giving you decent pressure (35psi+) when actually driving I'd leave well alone.
High oil pressure can be as much as a problem as low pressure and you need to consider that you need oil flow as well as pressure - and the more you increase the flow the lower the pressure will be. Just think that an engine that has it's oil ways all clagged up with gunk will (all other things being equal) have a higher oil pressure than yours, but which would you prefer?
If anything I'd try a fully synthetic oil which might hold up to high temperatures and pressures better.
Don't worry

whats "normal" oil pressure when warm and at idle?
since the refurb, new oil pressure spring and fresh oil, im getting 65 cold and 60 warm-ish is this too high.
when i had the car i was getting 40 cold 25 warm (all whilst idling)
I get 70 at cold idle plus a little more when driving and warming things through. Once the engine is warm the pressure is somewhere from 45-55 at idle and ~65 when travelling at speed. since the refurb, new oil pressure spring and fresh oil, im getting 65 cold and 60 warm-ish is this too high.

The oil pump is an octopus shaped piece of metal running eccentrically within a metal surround. There are no seals that would increase its power. In fact the only thing I can see that would increase the power is the rotation of the shaft.
Your shaft we be transmitting power okay or you'd lose all pressure.
Theres not much to it that I can see. The water pump or PAS pump are centrifuge systems and could feasible lose vanes through wear and tear or RUST. So there may be mileage in them, and they will be terribly sensitve to underpower if they move even slightly on their shafts.
I'm not much help I'm afraid, but if you want I could post pictures of mine in pieces for you to look at.
I would see if theres anything causing restriction in the rest of the system, and take a double look at the pressure relief spring because in effect thats actually the thing in control of your oil pressure. So much so that if you want higher oil pressure and had tested your system independantly rather than the terrible dashboard gauge, I would suggest a fiddle with the spring to make it less standard

The Cerby pump is a trochoid pump (see here: http://www.yamaha-motor-india.com/service/img/glos... ) From what I recall from my bike spannering course they're very reliable. You measure the wear on the pump with a feeler gauge because the clearence between the inner and outer is very small for the pump to work. I don't know if they steadily or abruptly fail if they wear out.
