Hiya, I've got to much that needs doing to my car, and no time to do it due to working every day so I'm just going to get someone to do it all for me. Who do you trust on your cars? I'm in Newbury, Berkshire and I'll trailer it wherever it needs to go but I don't want to go to far. Any recomendations? Things like

Indicator not cancelling
No 12V at the washer pump
Handbrake doesn't work
Needs an MOT, Service and a tune
I'm after a suspension upgrade and fitting/geometry check over.
Decats fitting
Battery light stuck on

Who do you use? I think where I'm located is fairly central to a lot of people but I'd like to find someone who I know is trustworthy as they're going to find other things wrong with it, so atleast if they say it needs it I know they mean it. Any idea of labour rates etc?

Cheers

Andy

Neil Garner, near Swindon.

Labour rates seem to be round the £40/hr mark. With the list you've given that could easily be £2k (incl parts)

William Street Motors in Southampton are highly recommended, have looked after my cars for years and there are always a couple of TVR's in there any time you go by. Check out TVRCC for reviews on them.

Neil Garner - he's near Kemble airfield, cirencester way. From you about 45 mins away.

He does a geo check/setup as part of the service and is very reasonable and does great work. Looks after a lot of TVR's around here.

Where abouts in Newbury are you? I sometimes take my car to work there, and so does GrahamN. Only TVR's I knew about were the wedge by the police station and the Tuscan parked near the Robin hood roundabout, both under car covers.

Ha, Yep, I know both them cars well, The Tuscan dumped on the road under the cover hasn't moved in years, I'm often tempted to knock on the door and make an offer.
I'm in Thatcham, near the Nature Reserve, I don't really know too many people with TVR's, just Roy (Chim) and Norm (Wedge) who run the computer shop in town. I need to find some time out from running things at work and get along to some TVR meets.
Cheers for all the info so far, I'm going to try and get it dropped of somewhere in the next couple of weeks, Spending my life driving everywhere and working at the mo and I just want me and my 3 year old lad to get out there and go for a drive. It's not much to ask!lol.

Where's Kemble? Or is that Keevil? There's so many undiscovered airfields around that way, I was at Colerne last week working, would have given anything to have unleashed the Cerb on it!

Kemble Airfield, south of Cirencester, north of Malmsbury.
Motorsport events run a lot of the local trackdays on the local airfields quite cheaply, including Cologne (and Keevil).

He had a TVR some years before, which sat there for long times. I think he went about 4-5 years without one then the Tuscan turned up. It went all through winter before he put a cover on it biggrin

Both myself and GrahamN work for different companies along Turnpike road, so not far away at all biggrin

A little bit further, but TopCats racing at Westcott, Aylesbury will do all you require, highly recommended, especially geo setup & corner weighting with new suspension.;)

Taylor TVR Dartford way or APM (when a well respected tuner says APM makes the best cerbera engine you don't need any other recommendation really!)

APM for servicing, engineering and suspension upgrades etc..I've run my Cerbera for years and until I found Andy it was always giving problems. Never let me down on the road after and he knows about performance and upgrades all the way through to full on racing. He's also been around for a long time which is importanat in TVR servicing etc..Based in Liphook about 20 minutes from Guildford.

Topcats or Str8Six would be my choice. Both less than an hour away.

Hi from yet another Newbury Cerb owner (although more towards Lambourn), it hurts, but STICK WITH IT!
I've had my S6 cerb since 2005, first year was a nightmare time, with 6 returns to Henley Heritage whilst under warrenty, (3 of them on an RAC transporter..) Been to Dave Batty Nr Guilford a couple of times since, top bloke, loads of help and well recommended. But why stay local? I've used Offord TVR (Cambridge)for servicing since the warrenty ended, good prices, never looked back, they're very supportive and encouraging of owner maintenance, also gives a chance to stretch the Cerb's legs to a service, an excuse for a long run (none really needed) and the use of an ageing SAAB 9000 courtesy car to bomb about in for a week.
Regarding the washer pump, I've just had the same prob with mine, was a bad connection at the pump itself in the compartment forward of the front wheel, TVR had seen fit to install about 6' of wire coiled up there which had largely corroded. Cut wire back to good clean bit, solder on new lucar, job's a good 'un.
Hope this helps, I drive into Newbury daily, give us a wave,(gold S6)

PS HH's courtesy car was a Perodua (the sort Jeremy Clarkson destroyed on THAT TopGear video!) They made sure NO ONE abused their courtesy as you quickly parked it in your garage before the neighbours saw you in it, left it there, then got up VERY early on the day to collect your cerb when it was due. The service manager, Richard, once asked me if I had found the optional-extra in the glove box. He was referring to the brown paper bag you wore over your head while driving it......!
