Getting at the 100 amp fuse.
Discussion
Hi all,
Got me scuttle panel off. Found the black box and thought how the fick do I get my hands in there ! Obviously have to remove some bits.. it would be nice to replace ignition leads too when necessary etc but I've not ventured this far so any advice on getting at it would be welcomed. Also there was mention of the fact that some folks had changed the fuse and were still getting Rev counter problems, to which another suggestion was the cleaning of the crank sensor. Seeing as the only way I'd get under a car is in a pit I guess this would be out would it not?

What you need for the fuse is a longish nut spinner, dead easy then. BUT TAKE THE BATTERY OFF FIRST. If you short the nut spinner or a spanner to ground while it's on the big fuse retaining nuts you will get smoke and probably fire.
The crank sensor is quite possible with the car jacked up, once the allen bolt is out you just need to wiggle it past the dip stick tube which is rather in the way. I wouldn't try it from above.

I have sausage fingers but once the big trim under the windscreen is out of the way it's not too hard to use the left hand to guide the nut spinner onto the two upward facing nuts and unscrew with the right hand, then the old fusible link just pulls off the the threads and a new one pushes on. You can barely see down there for the throttle linkages but it can all be done by feel.

So would any of the other metal work need removing or am I missing something. Apologies for seeming a bit confused.
