Hello All

Had my 1st problem in 6 months of ownershp today. Have completed a 2 day tour of Tuscany with the TVR Italia club (will post some pics later). Took on over 250 miles of b roads, amazing views, 35 degree heat etc! Cars included were Vixen, 350i, Chimaera, Griffith 500 and my Speed 6 Cerbie

Anyway, our clever leader decided to take us down a small road to park up for coffee. At least 1 in 3 hill. I dont really trust my handbrake at the best of time and gave it a really good yank, only for a 'ping' and slack handbrake. I assume the cable as snapped

Now, living in Italy - what do you guys recommend. Is this something i can just take to my local mechanic and ask them to make me up a cable? Any advice on how to fit? I take it everyting is underneath - dont seem to be able to get to anything inside the car

Any advice is appreciated please Will i need to order a cable from uk or can something be made up locally?

Cheers

Simon

Hi, sounds like the big plastic adjuster nut on the cable has slipped. It did it on mine and I thought my cable had snapped. You can just get to it from underneath, above the exhaust and prop shaft at the diff. Just a matter of winding the nut back to take the slack out of the cable. Just make sure your handbrake lever is all the way down first. Worked for me, been fine since. Think the nut is white in colour

to see it properly the prop shaft , middle section of exhaust from cats to back box and the heat shield will have to be removed to see the cables.

there are 2 parts to the handbrake cable, one from the handbrake to halfway undercar where there is a threaded bar containing a u shaped braket. then one cable stretches to each calliper and this U bracket picks it up in the middle.

you could have snapped the 1st part but it's guess work until you have a peek.

Im not sure if a garage out there could make one as the ends need to be the right connections to attach to the handbrake and or callipers.
