How many of us have Cerbs that are currently off the road? Mine's been off the road for exactly a year now due to auxiliary shaft failure. It'll be back on the road by the end of summer hopefully. I'm certainly missing driving it- seeing other TVRs being driven about in this gorgeous weather doesn't help things either laugh

I dragged the AJP out of the garage today to give it a bit of a clean before I take it to have it's auxiliary shaft replaced and the pumps overhauled...

AJP...Mmmmmm...biggrin

Yep, mine's off the road too, only due to me not having a licence again until August, but in the mean time it's thrown a strop and now needs a load of fuel lines replacing.

First outing should be at Curborough at the middle of August and then Harwood Hill at the end. :-D

Yep, off the road. got it back on last saturday, not starting on the sunday, back on yesterday and it died at lunchtime today. Oh how i laughed. Think the battery is toast.

And it's now back on the road. Turned over a treat this time. Weird.

Mine's been off the road for over a year now too getting the head gaskets done. I hope to have it back in the next couple of months.

Mine's been off the road since the early hours of the 31st of January. Although i did limp it to Chatsworth and a local meet as a Speed Four smile. Steve Heath Engineering currently has it and is transforming its power and reliability as i sit here pining! I cant wait to get it back!

I'll see your Jan 09, and raise you, Nov 07 smile

Currently at the garage getting a service, MOT and geo setup. Airboxes being resprayed elsewhere, whirlwind & chip fitted and waiting for last LEDs to arrive from states.
Its been over 18 months, and I've forgotten what its like to drive my Cerb hehe

A newly painted garage awaiting its arrival...

Ok, I join in. My Cerb is of the road since december 2008. I brought it to TVR Belgium where they took the AJP out. From there it was transported to Dave Wallis to get the LS engine transplant.

All winter months, so didn't really matter. But now the wether is getting better. The last things are being done right now, so she wil be back on her feet soon.

Pads, pah. One track day (1500miles) and mines lunched again.
Though this time it's being done right. Dropped in and had a look at the head work, night and day as opposed to the piss poor quality from before. Also backed up by a three year warranty, never got that before.

What kind of head work are you having done Nick? Just curious as mine is in too at the moment for similar work.

Simon, a proper porting and polish job, all combustion chambers cced, compression ratio brought down from dangerously high.
Austec are doing the work. I'm going down there next week will take some pictures of Davids handy work, it's seriously impressive.

I look foreward to seeing some pics Nick. What sort of compression ratio were you running then, as I believe stock is 10.75:1?

I'm not sure of the exact figures, but way too high to be safe or reliable.
Forgot the bottom end balanced, valves cut.
Also they wont be using 6mm bolts and a ton of mastic in place of 8mm bolts, the correct head gaskets so as the pistons don't smash into them, no threaded bolts and they wont be cracking my inlet manifold and just fitting it anyway, the dip stick will read the correct level and won't have a massive blob of weld on it where the engine was dropped damaging it, oh the heads will be skimmed flat so as the compression doesn't change on each pot. They'll even do the front pulley bolt up so it doesn't fall out whilst I drive the car.
In short my engine was hugely bodged up on many previous occasions.
TVR's get a bad rep for unreliability, unfairly so I feel, when all my failures have been down to rubbish repairs.
Did I mention they will guarantee there work and take full responsibillity for there repairs, unlike the other garages who have had thousands from me.

Have they given you any idea of the time involved in doing this major work Nick?

It's mostly done, just putting it all back together. Ring Paul and have a chat. I'm expecting to take the car to Le Mans. in ten days or so. Just back from Cuba so will update when I've been down next week.
They do all the work in house so no messing about with sub contract labour.

Nick

Are you going to get a power run on their rollers?

I'd be interested in your numbers, as a number of people have poo-pooed my 413.5 after they re-mapped my 4.5.
