Been trying to get this running all afternoon with not much luck, I have windows XP with a seriel to USB adaptor but it wont connect

When I plug her all in it comes up with the usual instal stuff but then says it cant find the drivers.

I have looked in device manager and there is nothing on the COM ports

Anyone got any pointers?

What com port does your usb to serial come up as in device manager/ports? Move stuff around so the usb serial is com1 and it usually works great

It comes up in the 'other items' section and is in yellow with am ! after it, tried instaling new drivers but that doesnt seem to work either, Will maybe need to try another laptop.
Given up with it for tonight, will have another play tomorrow

Assuming XP, right click my computer, select system properties (or press windows key and break together)

Pick the hardware tab, then device manager.
Hit the plus sign on Ports to expand that section and see what Com ports you have.
If you have something on Com1 and you're USB to serial isn't Com1 then:

Right click on Com1, select properties.
Choose the Port Settings tab, and the advanced button.
Change the Com Port number to something else.

Repeat for the USB to serial device, changing the Com port to Com1.
