I've just px'd my Tuscan for a 4.5. Mines a 1998 car and was £25k so £27k is probably a fair price. However I got slapped on the trade in for the Tuscan due to the slide in customer confidence in the speed six engine, so that's probably just as serious a consideration as 'how much discount will I get on the new car'.

Regards driving experience, the Cerb felt more planted and less nervous somehow and it was bloody quick though not streets ahead of the Tusc. But the sound - mine has a sports exhaust and it is awesome...

Cheers

Colin,

I want to change my Cerby to a Tuscan (I miss open top driving and like the Tuscan styling). I have a 1998 4.5 Cerby with 32K FTVRSH, 18" spiders, full history and lots of receipts. I live in Cheshire so not too far away from you if you are interested in a swap?

That cerbera price is about £6K over private price IMHO.
Fernies hate speed six cars - certainly speed six cerbs.
I wouldnt accept a low trade in price and also to pay over the odds for a cerb.
Sell your car privately and then shop around for a good cerb. That way you prob save yourself some £6-9K all in!!?

I've got a 99T 4.5 Cerbie which I bought privately about 18 months ago for about £24K - I'd have thought you could pick a good one up for about £22 - £23K although you do see some ropy ones sub £20K privately

i bought a 2000 mod 4.5 lightweight for £26k in the summer this year now i was going for a tuscan but after the harsh drive and for me knocks and bangs of roof panel and the finish around clocks i opted for cerb dont know wether he had my pants down with mine but it has spiders sports exhaust low miles etc and warranty so not realy bothered but now after driving it im very happy and is better than tuscan for me and better than the 911 it replaced but its not the best time of year for selling tvrs so if mr bank manager is willing go out screw somone down on a private buy cerb, keep tuscan rob all bits for cerb then sell in spring when people start buying again .

I had a Cerbera 4.2 and p/ex it with a 4.5 about 2 months ago. The car you are looking at with Fernhurst (if it is the sherwood green/magnolia) was the same I was interested in then and is my dream colour combination but could not afford it at £27000. So bought £23000 '98 Cerbera 4.5. In my opinion the Fernhurst car is rather adequately priced but only detailed inspection would settle the matter. The colour is certainly magnificient.

Cerbera is a bit tedious to drive arround the city unlike chimaera (no experience with Tuscan). Tuscans are upto 390bhp whereas Cerbera 4.5/RR is controversial 420/440 bhp. The steering (power assisted) is heavy and turning circle is wide, which if combined with poor general visibility requires wider parking space. None of this eventually matters because in my biased opinion, Cerbera is the best (whether 4.2 or 4.5).

I hope you are planning a test drive.

Totally agree with Munir. Cerbera is less than user friendly around town. QE2 has smaller turnimg circle, view is letterbox like, doors are wide and placed well behind centre line of driver,----- however, hooligan of a car and stupidly fast above xxx mph. Personally; love my Tuscan.

The turning circle thing never bothers me, and you soon get used to the letter box thing (and I have an early car so it is more letter than box)

That's very true, thing is, when you get back into a "normal" car, the windscreen seems like it's 10ft tall!!!

One more thing to add - get a cerb, they are awesome

Wonder if you had a chance to test drive the Fernhurst Cerbera 4.5 (I presume sherwood green/magnolia, £27000).

Go for it. I traded my griff 500 for a 4.5 3 years ago, and I don't regret it. Sure, I miss the open top from time to time, and the engine sounds different (sports exhaust a must!) but refinement up the m'way and mid to top end grunt, unbeatable. Oh, and air con too (essential in a cerbie)

I would go out and buy one. You get used to the turning circle, and other quirks the car has. But in my opinion...its the best lookin TVR. Thats why I bought one.
