Hi
Well decided today to sort out the intermittent rev counter.
Now I have alredy changed the big fuse and the alternator so I was reliable informed that it was the engine crank sensor which was causing the problem, buy being covered in muck etc.
Removed that and yes it was covered in iron filing and lots of other muck, cleaned it off, and refitted it!
Rev counter still the same!
Any ideas?
Andy

Hi Colin
Had the car out today when the rev-counter stopped I tapped it and it started working again. Every time it stopped I tapped it and it worked, so its a fault with the rev-counter or the fixings at the back of it!

Have to try that then Andy. Speed8(Andys) suggestion could be useful then.Had the car out today when the rev-counter stopped I tapped it and it started working again. Every time it stopped I tapped it and it worked, so its a fault with the rev-counter or the fixings at the back of it!

Also (it's all coming back to me) I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it but have you changed your big fuse recently as a fluttering rev counter used to be a classic sign that the fuse was on it's way out if I remember right.
Because in his first post he said he had changed it ....Gazzab said:
