Im currently putting the old girl back on the road. Should only be 3 weeks time now! Cant wait!

Should i do a headlight conversion while im at it. I was allways a believer in keeping them original..... However the race car has the conversion, i must admit i prefer it.

Whats the general consensus these days?

Also suspension, im going to replace the shocks. I cant decide if its overkill to put ohlins on it. IMO they are the best out there, just not sure a road cerbera needs them??

Also where is the best place to get floor mats from?

Thanks

Mike

You can always get the car back on the road without putting the dampers on and see if you feel it needs it. The headlights are personal taste - IMHO I think RLs and round lights or spiders and projector lights work well, but mixing the two doesn't work so well.

What about the Lupo light upgrade Mike?

Keeps the original look whilst updating it.

I'm 50/50 on the lights so no use to you on that front...

Going back to my motor bike days...Ohlins = top spec suspension...but also agree that for general road use they are probably over specced unless you are some sort of hero and loaded! Mine is running Eibach springs with AVO dampers and they seem well matched...dont have anything to compare with though...

Just got some floor mats for my car...

http://www.carmats4u.com/TVR-Cerbera-1996-2003/cid...

Total cost for 4 mats, black with grey edging with 4 TVR logos stitched in came to about £75...?

Good luck getting it back on the road...its MOT time for mine tomorrow...no CATS...loud exhaust...not to mention electric's, head light alignment, etc, etc...hate the dreadest test even though I know the car is fine...

I've always preferred the old style lights personally.

Personally, I prefer the projector type lights (and I have 18" spiders too). Mine are as a "pod", but I think when fully glassed in they look the bogs b@ll@cks

As far as shocks for road use go, I'm using adjustable ProTechs, which have an alloy body and a single adjuster for rebound / compression. These were recommended over Gaz Gold, and were pretty reasonably priced at about £550ish. I'm very happy with them, the adjustments seem to make a real difference, and I bought them from Joo, who has been brilliant about speccing the spring strength, adjusting the settings (i.e. internal settings so that the range of adjustments from the external knob operate over a different range to suit my driving style), and fitting bump stops. Top man. biggrin

I'm happy with the ProTechs, and also had good feedback from Kev (S6 Cerb) who runs them too (SYTVRCC). Not bad for 1/2 the price of Nitrons or Ohlins. Don't get me wrong, top knotch suspension is worth it - but consider what you are using the car for (I have Ohlins on my Aprillia RSV which has been fettled by a specialist - it oooozes quality damping).

Oh - by the way I also upgraded the projector style lights to HID on dipped beam. Made a MASSIVE difference to the effectiveness of the illumination (i.e could actually see where I was f'ing going, as oppose the the "hold up a BIC lighter and hope for the best" original lights....). The wiring has been altered to have HID dipped, and dipped and main (original as HID takes a while to "warm up") on main. good spread of light that allows full bore cross country nocturnal jaunts (h'officer, ahem)

Blimey!
You lot are starting to sound like the girls!
Picking which handbag goes best with which pair of shoes!laughlaugh

I got pods with projectors and RL's!
But I also got the fastest colour, so not too bothered!whistle

Lights:- Projectors seem to improve the poor round lighs, so surely it's a question of performance, not looks?

My main beams are HID yes, so perhaps fit HID to the rounds?

Wheels:- 18" Spiders are too weak for our bumpy pot-holed roads?
So my RL's are best! getmecoat

With regards to the shocks. Obviously the car wont be used on track...that would seem a bit pointless. However i do want it to handlw well on the roads. What is Jes running on his sprint cerb?

The headlights are going to be a nightmare! I just cant decide....

Keep em round Mike, I don't dislike the later type but came to the conclusion they should be only be on later cars along with the swoopy side of windscreen surround things. If they came round then keep em round and use the money saved on that folly to stick some ohlins on instead of lesser shocks wink - not the multi adjustable remote reservoir jobs necessarily but the single clicker adjustment ones, that's what I have and don't regret it - speak to Andy, he'll persuade you hehe

Right i need to make a decision on this. Im just not conviced th conversion looks right on yellow cars. It looks good on the racer but that looks very different anyway......

Also what about one of those front splitters....

Sorry but the old, yellow, antique round lights just look outdated now. IMO its the only thing about the Cerb that doesn't make it look like it was designed yesterday, and the one thing that could ever spoil the timeless design of the Cerb.

Round gets my vote. The front wings just look wrong with the pod lights - they just dont seem to fill the wings.

This is why I think the pod style quad lights look better than the blended-in ones. The lamp unit as a whole does the wings better justice.

As for round vs quad, one could argue that the round ones are the timeless design/classic look. But the quads distinguish the cerb from the chim, to the layman anyway. Verdict: completely subjective. smile
