lambda sensor access
Discussion
I failed miserably to get access to the exhaust lambda sensors to change them (one was not working properly). Why oh why are they on the top and why are the leads that 300mm too short - it would have been so easy for TVR to have made them easy to change. I ended up measuring carefully, pulling back the carpet, padding etc and then cutting access panels circa 150mm high x 250mm long through the fibreglass either side of the transmission tunnel.
I now have easy access to the lambdas, gearbox connection and the top bolts of the exhaust flanges. The holes have been covered 0.7mm steel plastisol faced sheet (industrial building caldding sheet)bonded into place by 700 degree intumescant mastic as new access sheet covers. It has worked really well and means I can now easily work in the tunnel
The best bit was being able to check the accessible areas of chassis and finding no rust at all - chuffed.
About time something went right.
