Right - My Blower fan is making a tinkling sound (stop sniggering) when it is blowing as I drive over the lumps and bumpy tracks that the highway agency calls roads these days ..

No rocket science required to figure out that the fan is obviously touching the cowling as it spins when I hit a bump - But where the hell is the blower fan (cold) and how do I get at it ?

Sensible answers prefered - Comedy answers appreciated providing they are hillarious !!

Where do you access it from?

I've noticed on my car that a panel was fiberglassed into place under the arch, just below where the clutch master cylinder is located.

I looks like it may have been fitted there in the factory.

Just curious .....

Access (if you can call it that!) is from inside the drivers footwell. The side carpet comes off and under it you will find a panel held in place with self tappers and tape. Remove that and you should be able to get to the blower.

I thought access to the fan was from a panel inside the actual wheelarch...not the footwell...? From memory the heating fan is in the O/S wing and the cooling fan in the N/S..?

There is not always an access panel in the wheelarch , Probably just on the aircon fitted cars . It is easier to cut your on access panel than remove the pedal box .

In my 98 4.2 with aircon there is no panel at all in the wheel arch. There is an access panel in the footwell as I described and you do not need to touch the pedal box to get to it or the blower.

The heating is in the N/S and cooling is in the O/S. I have had them both out.

Apologies for mixing up the heating cooling...O/S...N/S...

The access panel statement makes sense as the access panel in the O/S wheelarch on my car looks a little DIY compared to the N/S one...it fits and is screwed and sealed in and waterproof and all it just looks like it was cut in rather than formed if you know what I mean...

So I assume all cars have an access panel in the N/S wheelarch (for access to the heating fan)..?

...and all cars have an access panel in the drivers side footwell and mine has had a further access panel cut into the wheelarch...?

Intrigued...mines a 98 4.2 if it makes any difference...

I dont know about all cars - but mine certainly has an access panel in each footwell. They look factory original from the edges of the apeture and the way the motors are mounted.

Gee - what an idiot eek I thought it was such a simple question as well - In true TVR fashion, it does seem as though it depends what day of the week it was, and who was working on that part of the build that day !!! smash

Thanks guys .. the general concensus seems to be I am looking in the footwells for an access panel. The car is a '98 4.2 model with aircon ...

If they are not there - I will be back ! type

I'll be following this one too, as mine is the reverse - always on at the moment!! It's a delight in this warm weather, as if the Cerb wasn't a warm enough place on it's own...

Mine does this too, I was led to believe this is the blower direction flaps eg. hot or cold air, don't know how to fix it though! rotate
