The dear cerbie is not happy in this cold weather. The Drivers window refuses to wind itself up to the top on door closure(unless assisted!). Suspect the window winder mechanism could so with a spray of WD40 to loosen it up a bit. Does anyone know how to remove the door trim panel?

Undo all the bolts around the edge including the ones by the hinge and the cover comes off. An extra pair of hands is useful as it is big and unwieldy.

might also be worth lubing the seal as well, halfwits do a silicon spray type stuff, designed for window rubbers, helped mine no end.

In addition, Your also going to need some silicon sealant to reseal the rubber corner bit at the top of the panel. Also some masking tape to hold it in place while it sets

No problems. I am learning as well
I've currently got the Cerbie in lots of pieces doing the book research so rapidly picking up the ins and outs of these cars and enjoying every minute of it. I had the door trims off the first weekend I had it as well as the whole console steering column and so on.

Currently replacing all the cooling system with new parts because they were in shocking state! They looked rusty but brushing them up simply revealed holes under the rust. Much longer and they would have split. The chassis was also in a bit of a state as well so that has been cleaned and treated with POR 15 which I am very impressed with. The rad only had about 30% of its fins left so Tower View have supplied me with a nice new three core one. It's the same as a Griff/Chimaera unit. Still behaved itself temperature wise though despite this condition. Got an ACT set of stainless pipes and silicone hoses so it should be fine when finished.

Making good progress on the book as a result!

Steve

I replaced the coolant hoses a while back but had to reuse the old steel tubes. You said you managed to get hold of some stainless steel items, how many are in the set, is it just the two main ones or does it include the heater ones as well.

Be careful to install the thermostat the correct way around (it will go back two ways) and not to do what I did when putting my system back together.

The two steel ones for the heaters were not too bad so I cleaned them and painted them with several coats of POR15. The other two pipes were really bad though so they had to be replaced. I think the real problem is caused by the cover trapping moisture so that it doesn't dry out. This and the heat is what causes the problems. Having said that seen similar problems on S series cars in particular.

The tip about the stat is quite importent. I took a lot of photos so that I had references to the way everything went back and while cleaning the stat housing I did notice that there was only one way to fit it correctly. Thanks for the reminder though.

<<<<<cleaned and treated with POR 15 >>>>>

What is this POR15 stuff. Is it like waxoil or is it like Hamerite?

P.S replaced the old stater with a recon one from TVR (185+vat). Although the car is not back together, the engine 'don-half-turn' properly now! :-))

Do the drivers door and That should be me back on the road ... Yepeeee

More like Hammerite but really does bind to metal without having to clean it to bare metal. Get it from Frosts Restoration services.
