Just took my rear anti roll bar off to see what happens to the handling. I know removing it is supposed to give more grip in the wet not sure about the dry though - will find out and report

Done it, so far seems fine for it, a touch more understeer, nothing drastic, but probably better up the hills. smile

Jes,

Mine's running without a rear ARB but your car is a totally different set up from mine.

I like it (thanks Jools), but I have to ask, why change the set-up on a car you are familar with and more importantly a car you are WINNING with?

Play with if after the 8 rounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my rear anti roll bar is not going back on the new chassis and the rear shock mounts are being changed to give the shocks a more upright position. I will be interested to see the difference!

dont want more understeer, i guess i will find out at curborough next weekend. Tim I believe that the car can always go faster, its just finding out how to make it do it. I took a gamble with the new fornt anti roll bar at the beginning of this year and apart form the undesrteer which I have learnt to drive through by trail braking more so I thought this could be the next step. we shall see.

I do like your style, but I still think you need your bumps feeling. biggrin

So, you still up for a track day later in the year and you can embarrass me by showing how fast my car can go?

if youre going on a track day let me know, would love to see how the S stacks up against the best sprinting cerbs. somewhere tight and twisty would be ideal wink

Nah, know it too well and not enough of a challenge. I can't get it quite right but there are better circuits out there.

I love brands indy, cadwell is too fast for the S .. a cerb would murder it there I reckon... but i'm willing to give it a go hehe

Jes,

The Race Tuscans run a soft tail...and they're quite quick.

More lean at the back gives them the weight transfer they need to obtain more grip on the exits.

With your stiffer front arb it should work well, it'll be interesting to see how a cerb works with it's longer wheel base. You may want to soften the bump on the rear dampers and stiffen the fronts a notch. Could be, however, that because the car is heavier you don't need too much tweaking. Depends how good it was to start with I guess; and your was always pretty quick.

All part of the fun. Mines actually slower now than last year...due to this winters mods biggrin ... but It will be much quicker soon.

Andy

edited to mention that rear camber is critical if the arb is out. More lean means more -camber is required to keep the contact patch.

If you lot are going to brands i want an invite!

I dont have a rear ARB. Putting it on gives more understeer in my experience. No trear ARB just over 2 deg of camber.

losing the rear arb without changing the shock settings did the following:

much more drive/grip out of slow corners

the turn in on slow corners seems unaffected

more understeer on high speed corners - or maybe I am just committing more?

At luchtime after the two morning runs I stiffened it all round for Run 1
by one click which improved the dive by making it feel generally more solid but it seemed slower

Then for run 2 I took one click off the rear and it improved again - so Andy I reckon you are right - the result was a bit more stable retaining the better drive out of the slow corners.

So it feels very slightly less predictable, slightly less stable under weight transfer from front to rear mid corner and is more twitchy but I reckon its a fraction qucker.

all good really

cheers

Jes

and the exhaust doesn't rub on it anymore

thumbup Dad reported the same, a touch more understeer at higher speeds, no other adverse effects - if you could call high speed understeer an adverse effect. smile

All makes sense and confirms why mine felt a bit "washy" at Spa with it disconnected. thumbup

I think it is rather sensitive to your suspension set up. We noticed very little difference except as described - we have huge traction now though, but not sure how much is diff and how much is ARB-less related. Peter Myles was running without one at Curb for the first time too and he really didnt like the change at all.

With our springs/ dampers/diff, it works just fine. thumbup
