Top wishbones...
Discussion
Hi all,
We're after a passenger side top front wishbone, does anyone know where they are available from/ approximately how much they cost and if any are available asap. The car needs to be ready for a sprint on sunday.
You may all recall that we've had this before, but part of the wishbone buckled - it is the other side now, which has sheared instead (as it has been strengthened where the other failed I guess..) bloody TVR!
Any suggestions most welcome,
Thanks,
BCA

Hi Joo, definately something we'll look into (and was considering doing ourselves with the body-off) - but we'll just get the car sprint worthy asap first.
The section you strengthened is fine, looks like the rest of the part/the part in general just isnt quite up to our abuse.
Its still going bloody well btw, personal best at Shelsey Walsh last weekend.

I am changing my upper wishbones to tuscan II's so I have a spare front passenger side upper wishbone. It has just been shotblasted, zinc coated and then powder coated so looks like new. £40 quid plus whatever the postage is and its yours.
Whats different about Tuscan II ? Just curious. You could fit Saggy stuff all round and widen the track!

yours had the same mounts as pictured Ben. In fact yours was the first car i'd seen them on at that point!

I reckon theres a trick to these we've missed so far... I have an idea.

edit: Joo, do you still have the pictures of the viola pearl (err pink) Cerb GT's set up out of interest??

damper mounts and wishbone pickups are multi-drilled so you have a chopice of roll centres and damper pickups on a true GT chassis. Ive only ever seen one in all my time working on cerbs which implies theyre pretty rare cars!
Ben : did you also notice the exhaust manifolds are different and the system is bigger bore?

I didnt notice at first, though now you've mentioned it they're comparitively huge. Very interesting stuff, I wonder what power it made as standard?Ben : did you also notice the exhaust manifolds are different and the system is bigger bore?
Omerta - im afriad the pictures are not mine to publish/forward, sorry.
To the person questioning the GT cars origins, I believe it was offered as an option at one point, just before the 4.5 was introduced, though the idea was canned pretty quickly by the factory. It seems a few of the early cars had odd little trial parts fitted (such as ours, Markh's etc etc) and GT engine numbers - these may or may not have further interesting things in the engines (billet cranks have been talked of in the past.) I believe these cars were merely experimental or built with leftovers from the "GT" cars project.
The actual Cerbera GT as we know it (the purple car) appear to me to be another test bed type car. That said, I cant help but feel it was either done as a singular project for a friend of the factory or even as a homologation model for the early Cerbera Racer that Mark Hales compete in. I havent had a look at the chassis for that one though, so cant comment further on that - its just a thought. It does seem odd that such a different chassis/exhaust would make it onto what is otherwise standard seeming Cerbera, but TVR was always a company like no other. Its just as probable that it was made that way by accident.
