Picked up a factory Red Rose 4.5 on Saturday and discovered a switch with out a knob under the right hand side of the dash. What is it for? Could it be the dimmer?

Thanks

Enjoyed the drive and car. Lovely motor and will certainly enjoy it.

air conditioner temp control most likely smile Do a search, don't make it too cold or you freeze the system.

Sorry got my sides confused! I meant right hand side. It is not hidden it just sticks out and has no knob on it. So I have no real clue. I don't think it is the ac temperature switch.

Still learning my left and righs ;-)

Thanks

if its a small box shape about 3cm by 2cm then its you ac temp switch, theres no other switches under there that you would easily see.

HI Gazzab, I hope you do not mind, but I am usng a picture of your interior

Lovely car....

The switch underneath the dash on the right hand side is the one I was referring too. Can you tell me whether it is in fact for the AC.

My car is blue with blue leather. I will post some pics when I have them.

Thanks.

Not sure which switch you are referring to. The right hand switches you can see in that photo are the starter button and the fog lamp button. I assume you have lost your fog lamp button?
The aircon 'switch' that was referred to is sometimes found underneath the steering wheel area around where your knees would be when driving. I wouldnt describe it as a switch it I believe is a variable control that you turn clock wise or anti clockwise to lower and increase the aircon temperature (being careful to not get it too cold).

Great! I am getting closer with my poor description of what I meant. Indeed, I guess it is the variable switch by the knees on the right hand side. I only see the a bronze metal piece extruding and I have no understanding of what it supposedly does.

On your photo you can see something silver where the switch is.

Thanks

oh and I have only ever seen one car that has a physical 'button' on the 'switch'. Generally it is a brass threaded thingy only

Thomas,

That is the air conditioning temperature control. If you set it too cold then the system ices up and will not blow cold air again until it thaws out. It is a trial and error process to find the correct position and I had set it to be as cold as possible without freezing up.

You can use a thermometer to test the aircon temp and adjustments made. I have one on a voltage, amp etc meter. There is a recommended temp to aim for (but I don't know what it is)

the a/c switch is tucked under the dash, to adjust it you would have to e on the floor or looking under the dash. is that the position you would have to be in to mess with it.

if the swich is actually on your leather part dash and is adjustable while you are sitting in the drivers seat then its something else.

the fog light buton which is a simple press and de press button which can be seen in your attached pic hidden behind the indicator stalk would not have a brass threaded section.

Does it look like this:

If so, then air-con temp control.

Hi Pulajp,

Yes thanks, it is infact on the leather an visible while driving, i.e.

" if the swich is actually on your leather part dash and is adjustable while you are sitting in the drivers seat then its something else. "

Any Idea what it could be?

Thanks
