Intermitent starter motor problems

Seem to be having a few issues on starting - most of the time engine kicks in first time, no problems, but occasionally (and more frequently now) the starter motor just spins without engaging the engine - sounds like turning the key in my Freelander when the engine is running. Can someone help me identify a solution..?

I would think it is a replacement starter time OR it might have worked loose a bit OR you can replace just parts of it.

Just change it altogether.

Once is enough to have to do it.

I had this exact problem, I replaced the starter gear ( see link on post above), £50 and an hours work and it was sorted, starts perfectly now.
