Car cut out while driving today.

Battery voltage is OK all other electrical systems work.

When I press the black button I get the oil and alternator lights, however when I press the immobiliser I don't get the buzzer or MIL light. Also, the little red light on the immobiliser stick socket on the dash is not lighting up.

Alarm locks and unlocks OK.

Any suggestions. If I can't fix it this afternoon I'm going to gave to get it towed home on a low loader. The AA man tried hard but gave up in the end.

Any help appreciated. Feel free to email for security. I'm on the cerbera register if you need to check the car is mine. I seem to recall a way to bypass the imobiliser to get me home. Might be safer to call 07802 414615.

I 'hot wired' my immobiliser many years ago to get home from Le Mans (cant recall the exact method) but when I got home I disconnected the hot wires and it was fine again (and forever). So I agree try an unplug.

The aa guy tried that. Because there in no red led it is like the immobiliser has lost its power.

Could be worth a quick phone call to Carl Baker, 0772 072 3407

Have you checked all fuses and that the fuel pump cut out has not cut in, just a press on the button sorts that out, so a couple of free things to try there.
Good luck.

The wierdness begins. Engine stopped at 10am. Checked it again at 1pm. Spoke to Carl at about 5pm and booked it in for a new immobiliser. Flatbed turned up at 6pm ad, guess what, it started like nothing had ever happened!!

I can only think of three reasons.

1) Something got wet and dried out.
2) There is some sort of deliberate timed reset in the system.
3) There is somesort of accidental reset, maybe due to a slow circuit discharge.

Back on the blower to Carl in the morning.

The flatbed driver said the indicators flashed three times when I unlocked it. It usually flashes two times.

Sounds like the relays in the immobiliser are on their way out.
They open to immobilise and close to energise the circuits.
They tend to ark when they do this.
Once they burn out, then it's time to replace them, but no spares and they don't make them any more!

I managed to get my indicators to flash off the alarm again, by spraying contact cleaner into the relays. But to do this you have to cut them open to do it!!!!
