The Cossie and the M3 where pretty fast. I just let them get on with it (hence the pull to the right and let them past)

You are allowed to use all your gears in the warmup lap you know.

My wife has a 328i shopping trolley. After he overtook you and then entered the straight you should have been able to go straight back past him with some ease, and I don't mean redlining every time to do it .
