Just needed to share this moment of pure joy - just got my cerbera 4.2
It drives like a pig - and i knew this , but the chassis is sound , its metallic blue ( porsche color ) clean inside and got a good plate CAS498
so i reckon the 6000 i paid for it is ok
its also cat d - but hey here in belgium that doesn't matter too much - as it will loose this on the paper work here. Got the valves checked this morning, put the splitter back on the front ( bonnet kept on lifting on the way back )
Some people might know the car ? came from southampton , had an engine fire ( that's why its cat ) , since been re-registered as a 1980 car with CAS498.
I'm trying to "hook" up the lambda sensors as the diagnostic tells me the ECU is not getting feed - and i have no live +12v at sensor , and no lack of power from the fusebox ? Somebody has decatted it - and i just wonder if that somebody then would have remapped the ecu - at this rate it drinks and smells so i will protech the envirronment and refit it all - its got enough power for my talents

Now all i wish is that she will speak to me again-

Well done!
Registered as a 1980 - is it registered as another TVR model eg Tasmin?
I wonder if it used the identity of another model post fire to enable getting back on the road.

Did you buy it from a chap called Chris? He was going to bring the car over for me to sort, but I haven't heard from him for a while.

Lambda's have heaters in them, the 12v feed for the heaters is supplied from the fuel pump relay, maybe this is why you can't see the 12v as its only there when the engine is running???

Without the lambda's coming up to temp they won't produce an output signal. Do a search for wiring diagrams.

Rich.

just back from 5000km of summer holiday in the thing- awesome
did dover, belgium,holland,germany,denmark- lots of empty road

Only snatch was breaking the dipstick - urgg|
the two small ones in the back loved it - and just managed to sort all the mess that this fella chris had managed to inflict on the poor girl in the short time he #watched#
For the time being i have relayed a feed from the fusebox to the lambda live +12v ignition.
i\ve spent a fair few hours going through its wiring and nothing seems amis- and not butchered.
Anybody know this car from before southampton- its plate used to belong to a 3000m- raced and supplied by David Gerald- but got the number CAS498 about 5 yrs ago and is now registered as a 1980 TVR sports with 4.0 v8 engine
serves me neatly as here in belgium tax is on the basis of displacement @ power till the car is 25 - eauivalent to near on 3500 pound a year saved
The power steering locktab has just broken though - and i wonder if there is a long term solution other than electrify the setup ?

ohh and by the way Dan at Taylor TVR worth recommending big time. Honest and knowledgable

The power steering Tab/Key is just another one of those Cerb things that go wrong. The only way to resolve it completely is to replace it with an Electrical one. (as far as Im aware someone might correct me!)

I changed my Tab/Key after having the car about 6 months and in the 4 years that followed I never had the problem again. Its so much cheaper than going the electrical route.

The details of what you'll need to change to an electric power steering pump are in the equivalent parts thread.

Oh, and welcome to the world of Cerbera repairs far from dealers or indies.
