My wiper arms are starting to look a bit tatty, does anyone know what car / manufacturer they are from.

The passenger side splined shaft that the wiper fixes on to seems to have worn, is it possible to buy just a new shaft or does this involve a whole new wiper unit.

Not sure why i'm bothering because it never goes out in the wet!!!

I bought minde from ebay. Wipers are from wipex and you can ditch the stupid tubing on the wiper arms, because these have a little plastic block on them. You get two little pipes to connect.

I like them.

You can buy replacement pivots I believe.

Can't remember where from though. A cheaper fix if they are knackered is drill the gap between the wiper and the splined pivot and put a small dome headed screw in there before putting the washer and nut back on' It'll work for a while.

Strange, I was looking at my wiper arms this morning and thinking just the same. A bit of rust here and there and the black plastic caps over the pivots are now a miserable light grey.

I guess as a last resort the arms get stripped back to bare meatal, primed and painted or powder coated. Not sure what to do about the nasty plastic bits, any suggestions?

Spooky indeed (or maybe it's all this rain we keep having so we are noticing the wipers!), but I am mid-refurbish of the wiper arms at the moment! Rust comes off easily - I am using a borrowed Dremmel (very cool little machines!).

However, before I'd finished them, I needed to use the car, so I sprayed a couple of coats of paint on (satin finish) including the plastic bits which were faded grey. Look fab! They are now off again whilst I continue the job smile

That said, I am struggling to get the actual wiper blades off and I'm working round them at the moment. Any tips for removal would be gratefully received! tongue out

They are sods! I replaced mine a few months back with the ones off ebay and the only way I could get them off involved destroying the old ones. I couldn't see any way to release them - I guess this isn't helping you much unless you want to fit new ones...

Three quarters down This page is by far the best solution.

Sorry for the slight thread deviation but has anyone got any ideas as how to make the wipers stronger in their motion? I have removed the passenger side and this has helped but was wondering if it was possible to put a wiper motor from a different car in?

Hi I did mine a few months ago, got the ones of E bay and they actually come of pretty easily? I think the originals were the leven ones. You just lift them off the screen till they are upright then tip them right over and there is a small plastic clip you push and they slide out of the metal arm leaving just a u shape on the main windscreen wiper arm? Take one off at a time as its a sod to remember which way they go back on again. The E bay ones have been very good fit the windscren tightly and clean very well. Just have to sort out my stop switch as when I press the button they stop were they want?? great fun

They look just like the ones on ebay but the ebay set is £10 cheaper.
