After solving my running issues with the car here:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...biggrin

Im getting a strong horrid plastic burning smell from the engine. As the engine warmed up it seemed to be coming inside the "V" near the alternator/coilpack area. Even after switching the engine off and after 45 mins its there just not as prominent. Ive checked all cables, connections, pipes, zip ties and cant seem to locate where its coming from, the manifold areas outside the V smell ok but inside its putrid!

Any ideas as to what it could? Theres no smoke, heat haze just that smell

did you check also the funny stuff like the water tubes leading to the wipers, under the panel? mine fell off ones and were melting a bit... (they were hanging on the engine)
did you check near the manifolds? shields are ok??

just guessing....
