crankcase breather assembly
Discussion
I know this has been discussed previously (crankcase 'breathing' into the air box as standard vs breathing into a catch tank and to atomosphere) but was wondering if anyone is making a replacement for the fibreglass oil breather assembly that sits on the bottom of the drivers side airbox...?
I've seen the clevor trevor alloy one (£140) but was wondering if there was an alternative (read cheaper!)...?

If you're an emmissions orientated person, venting to atmosphere is a big no no...
If you want something cheap and dirty, you can pick up a K&N small filter assembly farely cheap (£40) and just plumb into that and tie-clip it around the airbox bracket hidden out of the way.
This was discussed in a thread and in some depth a while back...my crankcase breather currently vents via an inline breather/filter into an oil catch tank which is then itself vented to atomosphere. It seems to work fine (better than the leaky, crappy fibreglass affair that was on my car when I bought it anyway!). Thing is though, I think the oily vent smells from the crankcase are venting to atomosphere and then finding their way into the cabin when I have the window down...you can smell it most when you give it the beans and then slow down or back off.

I was thinking of removing the atomospheric filter and simply venting it back into the airbox....or, just converting it back to standard to see if it helped...thinking of going for the previous at this stage.
I've had a custom breather catch tank made up in alloy - as a prototype by Joo (ex-TCS).
Mark I didn't work too well - still p!ssed oil out of the drivers side air intake (as witnessed by the oil behind the number plate by those at Le Mans this year.
Mark II (Mark I with some baffling / modifications) is working perfectly!!!!!
I will resurect my old thread once I've got round to taking some photo's of it to show you. I think it looks really neat, I'll post up to see what you guys think.

I modified a rectangular catch tank to fit and plumbed it into both air boxes
Used expensive s/steel shrouded hose and metal fittings for a bit of bling
Have now added a s/steel p clip instead of the tie wraps so even more bling
Just need to get some sheet to make up a decent looking bracket

Thats a neat install - like it. Schematically we have come up with the same arrangment...or will have done when mine vents into the air box once more. Mines a bit more DIY than yours at the moment as I wanted to make sure it worked.Used expensive s/steel shrouded hose and metal fittings for a bit of bling
