I'm pretty sure that a 4.2 and 4.5 COMPLETE exhausts from the manifolds back will fit either car.
I've never heard of a difference in manifold pipe length. The differences are in the centre pipes, as you've got a whole system there it shouldn't make any difference if you have a 4.2 or 4.5. Unless anyone knows any different?
Also, that's not a Sports exhaust as commonly known but a custom built Blue Flame one. You can tell by the cans and the tailpipes.
Also also beaten to s

Thanks for that Ridds, although it would beg the question, if the length of cat + rear system is the same for both cars, why make the individual parts different sizes? it's not as if the engine characteristics are that different, if it was an cat size/emission thing just fit the larger/longer cat to 4.2 and 4.5
As far as i remember the originals came from Magnex, very suprised they didn't tell TVR put the same system on both.
Oh well, live and learn, i'm sure someone has a very good resaon somewhere for doing it that way.

I may have one if I can identify it. Can you tell me the diameter of the two pipes into the box and the distance between centres. My car is a 4.2 with a 4.5 back box and theres no way this back box I have on the shelf will fit my car.
FWIW I had to internally sleeve the 4.5 back box to fit the 4.2 centre pipes as they are 1/8" smaller diameter, and also slightly reshape the back end of the centre pipes.

i think the back boxes are the same size etc but the pipes leading to the centre section are 1/4" larger on the 4.5. This then carries through to the cats so although the pipes are the same length the diameters are different. - I think? thats why the 2 spare exhausts I have dont quite fit each other!

The cats are deffinately different lengths - about an inch in it, but I cant remember which way round it is as to which is longer. I know this for sure as when I bought my linked de-cat from Joo I had to go under the car and measure it. One is 15" and the other 16" I think.
