Calm after the storm, kids in bed, thoughts return to the car! Couple of things developed in past 10days, firstly damp/wet in passenger footwell, obviously ingress from standing water but where does it come in and how do I stop it? Secondly wind noise from leading edge of drop glass both doors was getting worse and I've discovered the faux carbon on the A pillar is coming away from where it attaches to the roof allowing the drop glass to ease away from the rubber a little worsening at speed obviously. If anyone has prior knowledge of this and has fixed it can you please let me know? Thanks, and hope you all had a good Christmas

Got the same problems, both footwells damp, don't know where it's coming from, any advice appreciated. My drivers window is the same and actually pops out above 80, apparently, have noticed it is 1-2mm lower than pax window so I think the stop behind the door trim needs adjusting, maybe both of yours are the same.

Cheers, Al.

Don't know the treatment for foot well water. Perhaps a garage would temporise by allowing it to evaporate.

The wind noise at >80mph is almost as permanant as the hand brake disorder. Dropping the window by a few mm may help (by streamlinig the jet of air).

Sorry no specific answers.

Yes, there was a post recently about water getting in.

If I mind right it was from where the electrics go through the bulkhead.
Other possibilty might be around the pedal box area as a few things go through from there.

Need some a that rubbery stuff to fill in the gaps and you'll be sorted.

Hi BigBazza
The link to the previous post is
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=66052&f=6&h=0&hw=water+in+footwell

You'll find one or two options . About a week after I posted to this thread I found my own passenger footwell wet so just dive in there and work through the options if unable to spot immediately
Good luck
Jerry

Thanks form the link to the thread, feel dead lazy now, should have searched sorry.
The other problem is the actual carbon strips on the A posts r coming away at the top allowing the windows to pop out, would they seal back on with silkaflex? is it an adhesive or just a sealant?
Thanks

Stikaflex should do the job, but remember there isnt anything on gods earth that will stick it down if its even remotely damp....

Not strickly true there are differnet grades of 'sikaflex'. Some are for marine applications and actually require moisture in the air to cure, so these may not be quite so fussy. Not used any myself but worth a look if desparate.

I started the other post re water in the footwells.

I'm wondering if your two problems are connected as my two carbon strips were loose - sealed these with some clear silicone sealant and touch wood - dry footwells ever since.

Due to the time of year took ages for mine to dry out - used fan heater in the end!

Just rechecked my car after being in the haevy rain all morning, and still dry.

great stuff buster, on the carbon a pillar subject, are they easy to remove altogether clean up and refit or did you just seal them in place?

Mine were just loose with an obvious gap between carbon strip & windscreen. Didn't remove them, just used clear silicone to seal to windscreen.

Do you use a jet wash as I think this can also cause water leak problems forcing water past gaps that would normally keep rainwater out??

TVR actually advise not to use a jet wash for exactly that reason.... The cars don't seal very well anyway, so pointing 130bar of pressure at a seal will only make things worse !

Just use a hose pipe for the car & the pressure wash on the wheels if you have to.....

Warm ???? LUCKY YOU ! I only have a cold tap outside (mind you, I do use warm water to wash the cars, as I like to be able to feel my fingers once I've finished washing it !)....
