Can anyone suggest the best place to get a new battery for the Cerb ? Went into Halfwits yesterday & they want £71.99, but didn't have any in stock.

The battery in there at the moment is a "072" (which is the same as fitted to a 1997 2.2 Honda Prelude - according to Halfwits catalogue), presume this is the norm ?

I had to fir a new one to mine about 4 weeks ago, it was a 072 coming out but some people have a 069. Also looked at the one in Halfords and thought it was a bit steep. Got my cousin, who owns a garage to order me a bosch one, only came to £35 so I would advise to see if a local garage can price you one. Good luck!

Olly,

Curds (my neighbour who supplies all the starter motors) can do one for £40 plus VAT. He is in T. Wells, or you can collect from mine in Crowborough

Cheers

Yesterday I bought a 4-year warranty, Lucas 069 for my 4.5 direct from LSUK (used to be Lucas Service) for £54.05. Took about 45 mins to fit and the alarm only went off once during fitment!

Bought mine from TVR dealers (Chris Niel) for £56+vat for 072.
I measured the Bosch 072 equivalent and was about 0.5cm wider than the one from TVR so decided to take the TVR one since it was B##tardly tight to fit.

andy4200,

According to Lucas, the 072 has a clamping flange on all faces at the bottom of the battery, whereas the 069 just has a flange along each short face (ideal for a Cerb and the same as the 072 that I replaced!).

Apparently this "difference" depends upon the battery manufacturer though. Doh!

My dad bought me a new battery from National Tyres on Saturday, but it turns out their book gives the wrong fitment (they supplied me with a Varta E7). It's is EXACTLY the same size as the battery I took out (072), but the terminals stick out the top of the battery rather than being sunk into the corners, so effectively, the battery is too tall.

So I'm back off to National Tyres on Saturday with new & old battery to find one that will fit... I'll post on here the name/model of the battery that fits.....

New battery bought & fitted on Saturday night & now the car turns over & fires instantly !

Battery is a Unipart GBA3072. It's not the battery listed in their (National Tyres) book (they only have the incorrect one listed), but it is the battery listed in their suppliers book....
