Rear brakes (handbrake) are Alfa?
Discussion
Been trying to track down some handbrake shoe retaining pins after mine inevitably broke when tryng to remove them. Contacted Racing Green who said they should have some arriving from Germany any day now, however this was at least two weeks ago. Phil rang me today saying they can get 1, with some more on backorder which should arrive in about 24 weeks!
That got me on the hunt to try and find some from a different source. I know the Peugeot 605 had similar pins, but finding parts for them seems to be tricky too!
So, I ended up just sticking 'handbrake shoe retaining pin' into google images and seeing if I could find something that looked similar, which has led me on to this:

Certainly looks to be a very similar set up! Only thing I can't work out is whether the size is the same. Think I'm going to order one and have a look see. The pins can be had from a number of classic Alfa suppliers, from about £3-4.50.

Are you on about the pin that sits inside the spring with the top cap on? If so then i worked on alot of vauxhall stuff about the era when cerbs were new and i know they have a few cavalier bits on them, they do look like the ones used on the MK2 cavalier, the size could be totaly different as you cant work it out from the pic but its worth looking into i think.
Cheers, will look into that.
One thing I did think of was to perhaps tap the hole that the pin goes through, and replace with a bolt? Loctite it to stop it from coming undone, surely this would provide a far easier way of securing the shoe, and it would then be much easier to take out too?

I did mention in my first post that I've spoke with RG and that they won't have any for another 24 weeks. It seems their supply lines might be becoming a bit ropey, or at least infrequent.
Besides, I think the design isn't that great, I couldn't actually undo one because it was obscured by the drive flange. A hex headed bolt would be far easier to work with. Unless anyone foresees any problems going down this route?

The same pin (inside the spring) looks very similar to a Mk1 Golf. The only issue might be length of pin/spring

Mine were allen headed and I found a ball end allen driver to be the best means of turning them.Besides, I think the design isn't that great, I couldn't actually undo one because it was obscured by the drive flange. That Alfa set-up pictured looks identical.
