Hi all!

I picked up my Raspberry Pearl 4.2 yesterday and had an awesome drive back in the sun, everything was fine but the indicators didn't work. Later that evening, I braved a drive in the rain and, as if by magic, the indicators fixed themselves and the wipers worked perfectly.

Then, tonight, I decide to brave the rain again and this time the wipers, main beam and indicators decide not to work!laugh

The only button on the wheel that would work was the horn, so at least I could warn others I couldn't see them! laugh

It seems intermittent, anyone got any suggestions? I'd rather not take it back to the garage if its a simple fix, I am mechanically minded(ish).

Cheers!

Nope nothing wrong here, move along please
Thats Cerbism for you hehe

congrats on your purchase and new life and welcome to the top 1%

suggest you start by checking the ribon cable is plugged in all the way (located under the drivers air vent binacle) then go for the multiplugs on the control boxes in the boot (located ontop of fuel tank behind the carpet strip)

Good luck

FWIW mine still does this on occasion, even after 6 years of ownership, sometimes just repositioning the steering wheel height sorts it.

might be worth checking the ribbon wire multi block connection behind the dash panel. had similar problems with mine when i first got it. as the come at you...fix em. you will end up with a fairly reliable drive. some owners polish em and hope the problems will just disappear. Enjoy!

Thanks chaps, I thought it would be normal! biggrin

I'll take a look behind the wheel tomorrow, had a poke around the boxes in the boot earlier and everything "seemed" normal.

I am absolutely loving the whole owning and driving experience so far, taking it easy to get a feel for the car. I think I'll be going for a wet handling day shortly so I know what its like in low grip situations.

Thanks again!

My wipers go on the blink occassionaly (or is that the indicators? scratchchin). I find a quick toot of the horn always fixes the wipers. Much easier than trying to get the steering wheel off hehe

Nothing I can add regards your problem, but thought a welcome to the gang was in order silly

Congratulations on your new purchase, I am sure it will provide you with many many hours of tinkering and probably more than the occasional cross word banghead ...

Oh yes, and they go quite well too ...

Enjoy !

Welcome aboard smile

Try checking the actual ribbon cable itself, it's a comon problem. Take the steering wheel off, just 1 big nut behind the TVR badge. But take the wheel off slowly, otherwise the ribbon cable, which is about 6 ft long, may just spring out, and you'll need to make a mental note of how it all winds back up.

Thanks again guys. I had a look at the ribbon cable today, it seemed to be pushed all the way in but still no joy.

Yes, it was the one from Offord, I called them up today and they will have a look at it for me no problems at all.

I was a little unsure of the colour at first but I like it now, plus the history of the car (new chassis, cams, pads, tyres, clutch etc) sold it to me. And yes, its pretty rapid, I laughed first time I hit full throttle in second!

I'll add it to the register too!

Thanks!

Ok, little update! I went for another drive and still, no indicators and wipers as before. Parked up, got back into it an hour later and it started to rain.

But then, guess what? The wipers and indicators worked again! I LOVE this car laugh

Did the wet grip 1/2 day at Rockingham that you can read about under "general tvr gossip"

Absolutely brilliant day - combined it with a 1/2 day track day - learned more about the handling of the car that day than in 8 months ownership and 5500 miles - you can push the car much harder in a safer environment than on the road...!

Thanks Mike, I had a read of that before I got the Cerbera, looks like a great day out!

Took it back to Offord today and it was faultless, they said that perhaps the battery was low and that had caused it. Been perfect today, had a heap of fun in it!

Plus they had a couple of decats in stock today, seem to have found their way into my boot for now, should be on soon....;)
