wiring gurus or headlight bulb know it alls walk this way
Discussion
i had standard round early cerb headlights using h4 bulbs,
i have had the 2 lights per pod tuscan conversion. each pod uses 2xh7 bulbs and one side light bulb.
i have hids so each now consists of 1xh7 hid bulb, 1x h7 normal bulb and one sidelight bulb.
to wire it up i split the 3 pin h4 wires.=
1 live feed wire for main beam bulb with the earth
the other 1 live feed wire for dipped beam and i tapped into the main beams earth. so the earth is shared.
now the problem i have is when the side light is on the HIDs flicker.
could this be due to the shared earth?
could it be due to the light control box?
what do i need to do to sort it. people have mentioned snipping wires or placing reisitors inline etc but i havent had concrete advice on what to do. the snipping wire methos was not correct for my car.
please help

Ridds is right, when the engine is off there is a low voltage supplied to the dip beam (10v rings a bell). My guess is that the low voltage is not enough to hold a 12v relay closed, so you get the flicker. Search for a post from mikesr which tells you what to disconnect in the lighting control box above the tank, which will stop this happening.

Only solution is to get the test meter out and work out what's delivering the low voltage to the relay which drives the hids.
