£13k for an S plate 4.5!
Discussion
Prior to buying mine I went to see a 98 S reg 4.5 @ £18,500, hpi clear apart from finance. The seller never had the log book with him & with the finance owing, I was a tad nervous about leaving a deposit on it.
I rang him back a couple of days later & somebody had left a deposit and subsequently collected the car.
It was crimson, low mileage, private plate ALZ****, which wasn't with the vehicle, being sold near alfreton, (Matlock).
Looked a bargain, anyone on here get it, september ish ?

fixed for £17500? cheap for a shiny S reg then? execpt when you try to sell it it may be a problem...
But still could be a deal. I guess this is about £4k to £6k under what you would have to pay for an un-bent one. Suppose You purchase it, run it for 2 or 3 years and have to let it go for a low price to shift it, say 10 to 12K. The depreciation is still a fraction of what it would cost to buy a new one and sell for 3 years, and may be no worse than a straight second hand job. Assuming that the mechanics are all OK, and the chassis straight then I see no reason why this could not be a deal. At least you know what you are getting! A few years ago, I visited a facility run a main stream car manufacturer. Hrer, they were repairing BRAND NEW cars which had been damaged on car transporters etc during the import process. Whole body panels, even whole sides of vehicles were being replaced! And then you take delivery of your "new" car none the wiser.

afaik if the finance is still owed on a car and the previous owner stops paying, the finance company can take the car off you. I mean, without giving you any money in return...
I mentioned to the guy that it was showing as finance owing & he was going to get me a settlement figure for me to pay his finance company.
Sounded a bit dodgy, but some brave sole bought it (apparently).
Must say, I havn't seen one at that price since, seem to remember it only had about 19k miles on it & new alloys. It was in autotrader for 1 week, early september. Seller was called Alan, love to know who bought it.
The crimson bonnet had started to fade against the darker wings, he put it down to heat off the engine.

I work within the Quality Function for a Major OEM and if we have to repaint a damaged bumper (on a vehicle once it leaves the gates/sales compound), if it costs less than £200 we can do it without advising the customer, anything over £200 and the customer has to be informed.
I may be wrong, but surely they cannot get away with this sort of thing.

Speaking of Autotrader, there are a couple of interesting adverts on there. The claimed 500hp Cerbera GT has come down to 25k (from 35!). If only they could produce the dyno charts. Also, there's a 4.0 litre v8 Cerbie advertised by a well known TVR dealer. Unless they've decided to kill it by a Rover transplant it's a fairly silly mistake!
