I`ve been getting some miles on the griff to get the ajp4.2 run in after the engine rebuild and instal, and a couple of weeks ago heard a very brief metalic spinning/scraping noise from the clutch area, try as I might I couldn`t make it happen on demand, and didn`t hear it again for another week, so jacked the car up and found 2 small diameter bolt ends sticking out between the face of the bell housing and the sump, they wouldn`t come out as the heads were to big to fit through the gap, so I held them in place with a dollop if silicon.

after racking my brains as to where these small m4 bolts/screws could have come from, I decided to leave it alone, thinking I must have accidentally dropped them down the gap in front of the starter motor.

went out again for a run this morning, and the noise happened again, this time folled by a definate metalic scraping noise when slow engine braking, so took it home and dropped the gearbox out, then the bellhousing, and found that 3 of the 4 small screws that bolt onto the startermotor face behind the drive cog had fallen out, with the last one just waiting to follow suit.

A pain in the arse job, but glad its sussed out and will fit it all back together tomorrow, with a good helping of loctite.yes

wouldn`t want that falling apart on Joo`s dyno next week!!hehe

anyone having their removing thier starter motor should check these out and make sure they are tight.

Just checked mine while curing gearbox leak and found 1 bolt/screw missing.

It wasn't in the bellhousing so no idea where it went.

Now replaced and loctited!

Cheers

I found one rattlig around inside my bellhousing when I stripped the engine down.

Extra strong locktite for re-assembly methinks biggrin
