Hello all, as you may know have now got a lovely 4.2 Cerb and have got myself an Accumate trickle charger for it. Curently using the lighter socket to plug it in and charge the battery but is there a better way, such as hard wiring it in? If so, how?

Thanks

Does it have a jack-plug on the red and black wires?

If so then just connect the red to the + and the black to the - on the battery and plug it in when you park up.

How is that better or more convenient than using the cigar lighter?

I am going to fit a plug socket to my car. As I reverse into the garage I am wondering it I can run a cable to the back of the car and have a plug near the number plate. But I might forget and drag the garage behind me. The other option is a plu cable tied near the drivers side windscreen wiper.

Thanks for the replies, I reckon I may just leave it plugged in the lighter socket then!

I have a wire running from the battery to a plug which can be placed anywhere you want on the car. My thought with this was that if ever I forgot to plug the accumate in and the battery ran down and the doors would not open, then I could just plug it in and latter on be able to open the doors etc.

Similar to above, I wired the accumate plug with the attached ring terminals directly to the battery and it is just long enough to poke out where the near side wiper washer pipe is to connect to the charger when you need it. It will then push down and hide out of view when you are driving. Mine has a water-proof cap so the terminals should stay in good condition.

Mines hard wired in also, but I have a "wrong" battery, so my plug sits where the +ve terminal should be, if that makes sense.
