So I had a leaky diff? So I ignored it? So now when I was out in it, I thought I had a puncture. Rear diff started to pull with an accompaniment of precussion to the tune of bongo's!

I think I may just need oil in her and Im, sure I can stop it leaking, but how would one approach this on ones driveway? Any thoughts on fluid and actually topping it up?

Thanks!!!!

So, you have probably just wrecked your diff due to ignoring the leak and now need a new diff. Happily this will also cure your leak, although it is rather an expensive way to do it. Next time I'd recommend curing the leak before you destroy the diff.

I had the box off 500 miles ago to do slave seal = new gearbox fluid. Thats when I spotted the leak on the diff, or rather smelt. I thought I had more time! Just a lazy slap dash so and so. Guess this will teach me smile

Mate and I will go about rebuilding it, just need to see how I guess.

The is the fluid I would use:

youll need about 3 litres I think, but you'd have to check the manual.

The best thing to do would be to remove the diff completely. THis way you can take the back off and have a good look inside for any damage, and it'll be a lot easier when it comes to making sure the rear case is refitted properly. As said above though, there's a good chance that its fubar, in which case you need the diff out anyway.

Check around the diff breather for signs of oil residue if there is no obvious leaks around the casing seals.

There have been quite a few incidences of oil being pushed out through the breather. In theory there should'nt be enough pressure build up in the casing but it has been happening. There is a mod involving fitting an extended breather pipe with a 'U' in it to cure the issue. You should find something about it on here via the 'search' facility.

Check the rear diff mount first, an easy cheap fix. Mine went resulting in the diff dropping down a couple of inches making the driveshaft bolts rub on the chassis, making a loud noise.
I'll add my diff needed a full rebuild also, not an easy job, special tools are required.

Racing Green TVR dealer said they can rebuild my diff if I give it to them for abour 350 quid. Doesnt that sound really cheap!?

mine cost 100 quid more than that, if its a proper re build with warrenty do it, otherwise ship it off to Readman racing/grantura engineering
