need to get my diff overhauled over the winter (noisy bearing and leaking seal on the input shaft) and can either hand the car over and get it done or drop the diff out myself and get it overhauled. So I can get some quotes for the job, what is the diff in my 98 Cerb 4.2...?

I have picture of what looks like my diff from the manual/parts catologue and the picture shows 'BTR Automotive' stamped into the rear casing...cant remember seeing this on my actual diff but its looks to be the same but will check.

Wondering if anyone knows the actual diff details/reference...model, type, etc...?

If anyone has an idea of a likely refurb cost that would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Had mine (Hydratrak) rebuilt recently at Readman Racing. They are all BTR diffs, difference just being the type of LSD inside (Hydra or std LSD).
My diff came back from them looking like new, total cost was about £450 but I had more replaced than usual.

Thanks high52kojak - think mines the standard item. Just wondering what to call it when I ask for a rebuild price? Guess a diffs a diff when it comes to an overhaul...

It will be the same price, Hydra or standard, all bearings etc are the same, just the LSD unit which is different, but they are the same price to replace anyway.
