Sorry about being an interloper from the Wedge forum but I'm running Cerbie 16" alloys on mine (engineered to fit) and I've been finding it tricky getting hold of rear tyres at a decent price.

Camskill advertise Toyo's at a very reasonable price but have no stock!

Any pointers much appreciated,

- Adam

Hi,

I used to run Goodyear F1's in that size, others have had good experience with Falken 451s I think. Most tyres in that size (including the Toyos) are not 'Y' speed rated - maybe not an issue for the wedge though (I don't mean that unkindly either smile)

Black circles ?

Nexen ? £63
Toyo R888 track/road £160

Or I recently bought Continental's..... £144 for the rears

Admittedly mine were for the front. Completely cured my tram lining & arrived at the fitter's the following day as promised.

Good point. I bought the Continentals because I wanted the ZR rating.

Give those Nexens a try, and let us al know what they're like smile

If they're no good we'll not give you your money back biggrin

Thanks, it's a 400SX, 320bhp, so no slouch.

I found some Toyo's on tyresite.com just now, just over £100 a pop.

I have found them to give good grip, which is more important than the speed rating, 'cos you don't want to go fast if the rears are spinning up all the time!

  • Ordered on tyrestite (same as Rochford) and got a tenner off with a discount code - whoo hoo! *

Hmm, well that size seems to suit the wheels, and I'm so close on the speedo reading it's untrue, plus I have an extra 1cm of rubber on the back, so why spoil it?

Interestingly - for wedgers - I have run these tyres down to minimum tread depth, and they are completely even all the way across, no bald spots on the inner, middle or outer, so I must have exactly the right tyre pressure too (20psi at the back).

  • BREAKING NEWS ** Toyo have no stock of these tyres, and neither do any distributors, according to Rochford.
So - back to the drawing board - I don't particularly want to get those Nexen 3000's, I hear they are a handful in the wet...

I was going to give these a try next:

Although it says no stock I'm sure you could call around and get them.

Look like a good tyre at that price smile.

Use Falken 451s on 16" rims here also, they are fantastic value for money in my opinion!

Have ordered Nexen N3000's for a smidge under £60 a pop inc delivery from Tyretraders.

At that price I reckon I can use and abuse them for a few months and get some Toyo's when the next batch is made, if they are crap.

 I use them on the Cerb they are imho a very good budget road tyre, does everything I want from them. Though I don't drive to the limit on the road and they may be different on the track.

Yep they get great reviews but are not available in 245/45/16 frown.

The link above on my previous reply is to the Hankook RS-2's. A very good sporting tyre for this size.

I think it's pretty much that or TOYO's at the moment.
