8th fastest overall for my 4.2! I think the only stock car that beat me was the Z06, which was no surprise. I think the UTE was supercharged, not sure if it was stock or modded. The conditions were great and overall it was a really good day out - the Cerb behaved itself (despite a LOT of breakdowns) although despite numerous attempts I couldn't launch well - it seems that with the colder temps traction in 2nd gear has become an issue - fun but slow.

It really does put a smile on my face that a 12 year old TVR can still out pace most of the high powered cars on sale today.

Hi Longbow, good result for the Cerb, you say you had a "a LOT of breakdowns" What happened exactly, your car should be better than new?

Looks like it was a Vauxhall/Holden drivers day out too.

The E type can't have been standard either!!!!!!!!!

I wonder how a 450hp Cerbera would have done???

No, my Cerb was fine - it was a lot of other cars that broke down! A few spectacular fried clutches, head gasket failures, top end failures, coolant leaks etc. Maybe 5 - 6 cars needed to be recovered. Funny thing is that there were 2 TVRs there - me and Jumplead in his Chimp 400. We both canned ours (him moresore than me!) and both drove home without dramas. I really like the twin plate AP clutch though - it's virtually bombproof when combined with the low weight and rear wheel drive of the Cerb.

I'd really like to see how either a 450hp 4.5 or one of the 4.7s fares on this sort of test. I think it might level peg a Z06, which would be a great acheivement.

ETA the E Type was supercharged!

That's even better news, not that the others had problems so much as just how much abuse the curb took without a hitch! is the standard clutch as fitted to cerbs the twin plate AP clutch?

Harry, you really must do. If my 4.2 can do this, I'm sure yours with 75bhp more would be in the mid 170's. Shame the weather is turning now, so you'll probably have to wait until next year!

Rich, how did you get on at the Pod on Sat? I decided not to go in the end as I didn't want to break anything having paid the entry fee for Thunder Road.

Interesting discussion going on on the HSV&Monaro section post this event ref the differences in performance delivery of the n/a and supercharged LS engines. The results didn't really show much difference in terminal speeds between either over the mile and most believed that the PD superchargers were struggling at sustained high rpms. However over the 1/4 mile there was a difference, with the low-mid range torque of the supercharged cars getting them there quicker.

The twin turbo LS however was another story..... 193mph over the mile!!!

Didn't get there in the end, house extension is taking up far too much time frown

Might make 1st Nov but not looking good.

Monaros are heavy cars at 1700kg, so you need a lot more ooomph to make a difference at the top end.

Can't wait to stretch its legs biggrin

Rich.
