Can anyone recomend a good silicone type adhesive for bonding the screen rubbers. I've had the windscreen rubbers removed for respraying the car. I've already tried refitting them using RTV Silicone sealant, but it didn't bond the rubber. It needs to have good adhesive and sealing qualities because the screen rubber has nothing to 'clip' into, it relies on a good bond.

Probably sikaflex then, 'tis more sticky than regular silicone.

Sikaflex, or Tiger Seal, its used for bonding panels on, but its still flexible, I got mine from discount body panels in Brum, but any body panel place should be able to sort you out, about £9 a tube.

I used tiger seal when putting the headlamp access panels back on. I to need to reseal the windscreen rubbers as they are starting to come away a bit. Would be handy if tiger seal is the recommended stuff.

Thanks Fellas - I was hoping for a more 'silicone like' alternative to Sikaflex/Tiger seal, looks like the old Tiger seal will have to be used though.

Polyurethane

Why are you lumbered with putting this back on, or did you volunteer?

ETA: removing the rubber trim(s) was not a great idea tbh.

I'm respraying the car, so I removed the rubbers (After asking, and being told that removal and re-fitting was an easy job smile).
Now I know that maybe it wasn't such a good idea after all. The new rubber are a T section, with the upright of the T being about 4mm high and 2mm wide, but the gap that the rubber goes into, once you've removed all the old sealant, is about 1/2" wide and 1/2" deep ! So that gap has to be filled with Silicone/Adhesive, and the rubber has to be just layed in, squidged into place, then keep your fingers crossed that it sets in the correct position. Hmmmm, don't you just love how TVR built cars.

In the circumstances, I wish you the very best of luck (and also to the bloke who lands the task of replacing the screen in the future).

It will be just the same as any other Cerb.
