Alarm Fob Programming
Discussion
Hi guys,
Sure this is an easy one. Can some one let me know the process for re-coding the key fobs for my Cerb please.
I have the plug in key, and a working fob, but need to program an addition fob. I am hoping it is something similar to the lotus, with the master key plugged in, a couple of flicks of the ignition and pressing the fob buttons in a certain order ... I simple job to be done in the garage on this Wet Sunday afternoon !!
Thanks chaps

Meta Programming Instructions for Random Encrypted Remotes (16 digit code - Not M999T) And for earlier motorcycle alarms such as the 351 & 355
Programming 16 digit Single Button Remotes
You will need one working remote to program a new remote into the system. This remote must be enabled by a dealer with a 16 digit code which is supplied on a plastic card, without this code the alarm brain will have to be sent back to be reprogrammed.
Arm and disarm the alarm sixteen times or until the alarm stops responding, alarm now in program mode.....
Once in program mode press the button of the new remotes(s), press the button of the original remote(s). This must be done within 8 seconds of each action. If 8 seconds pass without any actions the alarm will automatically exit programming mode and you will have to start from step 1.
Wait 8 seconds to exit learning mode.

Sorry Gazzab - No dice ... But thanks anyway .
The alarm did seem to go into a different mode after about 8 or 9 sets / resets, but the new alarm fob did not code in, and after about 8 seconds, the original fob worked again ..
I guess I need the help of the expert refered to on here before - is it Carl ?? Any one post his details please ??
A bit more surfing and I have found other threads on the same subject - and similar procedures put forward as the answer, however, I have also noticed that , like a similar thread, my newly acquired (second hand) Key fob has TVR the other way around on the fob button ... does this mean it is for a different TVR with a slightly different system - hence why I can not code it to my car ??

I did exactly that with a new fob last week and it worked (alarmingly Meta Programming Instructions for Random Encrypted Remotes (16 digit code - Not M999T) And for earlier motorcycle alarms such as the 351 & 355

Off back to play with my Lego now instead !!
Neil,

Did you get a correct spare fob (I had to give a 16 digit number when I ordered mine).
Where abouts in Herts are you? I'm in south cambs if you want me to have a go at it...

Just to update the thread for historic reasons (and also because I've just ordered and implemented a new alarm remote for mine :-))
Each alarm has a unique 16 digit Hex code which should come on a RED plastic key card, about the shape of a credit card, and in my case was kept in one of the credit card slots on the left of my owners manual.
This number relates to both the original two fobs that came with the cars, and the alarm in the car.
Any new fobs, and I'm guessing here also if you wanted to reprogram an old fob for a different car, will need to have that 16 digit Hex code, or the alarm will not accept them in any way (so buying one from a scrap yard will need to be reprogrammed)
The alarm also has 7 'slots' where it can allocate associations with remote fobs.
By default slots 1 and 2 are allocated to the two fobs shipped when new, and any subsequent remotes will need to be allocated in one of the remaining 5 slots to ensure they work.
You can see this on the default RED plastic alarm card where it says under the 16 digit Hex code, in my case:
1* 2* 3_ 4_ 5_ 6_ 7_
When ordering an extra fob, it will need to be allocated to a 'slot' and in my case came with a second red key card which had on it:
1_ 2_ 3_ 4* 5_ 6_ 7_
to indicate that the new fob would go into 'slot' 4.
I spoke to Carl Baker and he was very helpful, however as I couldn't physically get to his location to reprogram my alarm (his preferred method of get everything is sync) I ordered an extra fob from Sam @ Abacus Alarms (www.abacusalarms.co.uk).
They recommended a Meta TXM550 (http://abacuscaralarms.co.uk/alarmshop/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=97) as the M100 (the one we all got with our cars) is no longer made.
As DaveD mentions you have to give them your 16 digit Hex code and then they can program a new fob for you.
Maybe we should make this a sticky post so that it can always be found?
Hope this helps clarify :-)

Sorry to raise this old thread but it was the only useful one that Google brought up. The micro switch on my daily fob just packed in so I went and got the working spare...... You guessed it NOT WORKING EITHER! :-( It had somehow uncoded itself?
Turns out the micro switch has faulted closed circuit and flattened the battery's in that fob also. So after an hour of sliding another set of batteries in and out of the broken remote I finally managed to re code my spare. Now to swap the switch off a 3rd remote I got with the car that looked brand new but I could never code in onto my daily fob. Unless anyone knows where the switches can be bought from?
Anyway im basically just saying thanks to this thread for the programming instructions.
