Anyone tempted by the Lotus Evora? I've seen it a couple of times and it seems to sit with the what the cerb could've evolved into (almost). Something about it is so so right but I don'tt know the styling looksa bit Toyota Celica...
Think Im the same as you...sort of 50 / 50 when it comes to the styling...it looks modern and quite smart but then from certain angles it just looks a bit strange..? maybe its just me...don't think it will be regarded as a design classic many moons from now put it that way.I prefer the Exige.
Whatever I think about the Evora...on a good day when I think it loks smart...I always look at the price and think 'sh*t'...its not worth that! Shame, because from what I've read Lotus have achieved alot with it.
I like them. I saw one being put through its paces at Snetterton and it certainly looks like it can handle itself.
Oddly, it looks completely different in the flesh compared to photos, can't explain why, but every time I see a picture i'm uninspired, see one for real and I like it. Interior is nice too, a clinical approach TVR perhaps.
Downside...power, but I doubt it'll be long before we see a big power version.

I was lucky enough to be invited along to a lotus Evora event in Aberdeenshire yesterday, where I had the pleasure of getting to spend 40 minutes chucking an evora round some brilliant roads. My impressions... firstly, its a lot bigger than I imagined it would be, and seeing one in your mirror, it certainly has a lot of presence. It does look a lot better in the flesh than in photos. Not only are there a lot of nice details that you cant really appreciate in photos, but the whole shape just seemed a lot more interesting in the flesh- things like the deep cut-outs on the sills, and the smattering of functional vents and ducts make it a lot more appealing than I was expecting. Packaging is certainly impressive, but the boot is still tiny, but the rear seats are a bit better than in the cerb. Overall the interior did seem good, with special note going to the fantastic recaro seats. The big Alpine stereo still brings it down to me. The car I drove had the optional sports exhaust, and whilst it had a nice rasp, it wasn't at all special in the way any tivver is. To be honest, you really start to forgive it just about anything, as its such a well sorted car to "press-on" in. On semi-damp roads, the way it inspires confidence was simply stunning- every time you expected the nose to push wide through an off-camber bend, or even feel at remotely unsettled over a tricky bumpy surface, it always felt comfortable and in control. At the same time, it was deathly silent doing 80 mph at 2000 rmp in 6th, and so could easily cover mega miles without troubling you. Negatives... very snatchy brakes for a kick-off, not quite as nice steering as other loti I've driven (but still exceptional by any other standard), off-set pedals, and oh, lacking at least 100 bhp in order to even vaguely trouble the competence of the chassis. Ultimately though, its really just the precursor to the inevitable SC model, which should hopefully answer that particular complaint. Remember too that another Esprit is in the pipeline, so they do have to leave enough room for that to sit comfortably above the Evora in terms of outright speed.
Overall I did think it was an attractive package for the money, given the relative exclusivity you'll get compared to something like an new m3. Still, only a few grand more and you're driving a GTR, and that would give me something to think about.
Oh well, in the mean time I'll just keep dreaming! Certainly didn't feel hard done by driving home in the Tamora though.

You alrite Brogenville?
Didn't realise you were staying with TVR after selling your Cerb?
Just had a laugh looking at your garage.
M3 - tick
elise - tick
cerb - tick
Audi a4 quattro - tick
Looks like my next car is a Tamora then?
I think whenever I have 'issues' deciding on what to buy next, I should definitely give you a shout - we seem to be dialled in pretty bang on in terms of car choice
.... Oh, and I finally got a job. I'm now a mechanical engineer................ (seriously). we should be careful never to meet in reality though, we may cancel eachother out or something? I'm sure I saw logic to that effect in back to the future

As we discussed, it was my intention to get an exige after selling the cerb, but for one reason or another I decided that I would get more use out of something like a Tam, and you kow what, its brilliant. I did also have a deal agreed on a Noble actually, but it fell through at the last minute. Think I still will get another Lotus eventually though.
Prob best if you steer clear of buying a Tamora next too- we dont want to distort the space time continum too much.
