I'm part way through replacing the CV Boots and noticed on both half shafts the outer boot was not located in its 'groove'.
From the build up of rust it looks like they have been like this for some time.

Question, should the small end of the boot be located in the groove? I think I know the answer but thought I'd check smile

Thanks

Rufus

Yes, but having one sealed in the "wrong" place is better than not having it at all.

Clean it up and it'll be fine.

Oh.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing as far as I'm concerned?

The joys of living in the sticks in a "foreign" country, eh?

I generally have no choice other than to engineer a solution of some sort or other.

Glad to be of help.
