Window Problems Already
Discussion
Tonight I have experienced my first problem !!!
(3 days working fine)
Have searched forums on here, but can't find the same problem.
Took mate out for a ride earlier, he didn't fully close the door. Stopped at lights and he SLAMMED the door.
Interior lights stayed on, and now the window doesn't go down when you open the door and catches on the carbon strip. All the door switches (inside & outside) are working ok, just the window doesn't drop.
Interior lights don't seem quite right either.
Drivers door works fine.
When I leave the window open and lock it, the windows go up ok.
Simple fix ????

Had a similar problem with mine. I believe there are sensors (window limit switches) in the door to detect when the window is down before opening door. In my case one was duff in one door and another needed adjusting in the other door. My guess is that the door slam either killed one of these switches or knocked it out of line. You will need to find someone to set them or test them for you (never tried removing the door inners yet so wouldn't like to guess where they are exactly. Not a big problem I would think, or particularly expensive.
Not a lot to suggest other than put passenger window right down with the switch then lock the car and hold the button on the keyfob down until thwe window closes fully then unlock the car and try it then....they do get "confused" try it and let me know....nice to see another sad cerb owner on here till late!! lol
Sorry guys ... didn't get on yesterday !!
Cheers Baz, yes it did work .... windows right down, then locked it with the fob, then worked ok
Although I am laughing now, as the boot isn't opening ... no sounds at all ... dead
... maybe have to clear the garage out and keep her in there with the weather being what it is.
Also found that the carpet on the drivers side (rear only) is quite damp. Everywhere else is dry.
Looking at some previous forums on here ... hopefully would be something very minor.
Rest assured, despite the first week showing several things (all of which I blame on the severe rain and leaving her outside all day in the work car park, and all night on the drive) ..... certainly don't regret it one bit !!
Knowing you can put your foot down and get 'that smile' on your face, the looks from other drivers (most of whom wind down their windows just to get a listen), and the headturning the car creates is just something else.
Would just be nice if all the windows, doors and boot worked ... and the water didn't get in from somewhere.
On the water ingress .... it will be just a seal, or drain holes blocked .. or something equally as minor won't it lads ..... please tell me it will be or any suggestions !!

Hi, glad my solution worked....I'm not a techie by a million miles so its quite satisfying! On the boot issue, if you really can't get in you'll have to do it "manually" (See other threads) and then tighten up the switch plate nuts on the back so the badge makes a better contact with the switch, this should sort it. When you tighten it up its a fine line between being able to get in easily and the boot opening on the move etc so experiment a bit.
I've had the same problem as Midlandman, Window went first, then started again, then this morning on the way for petrol, doors and boot went, so at work today I got into the boot, and lo and behold all the fuses are OK. I remember seeing a thread about doing something to the black box (Windows/Doors/Boot Control box) on top of the fuel tank. Can anyone out there help??
The door control box is mounted on top of the fuel tank, behind the carpet flap.
To reset, remove the plug which has the red and black cables, leave for a few minutes and plug back in again. Probably a good idea to leave the door open while you do this in case it decides to get grumpy with you!!!
Don't know if anything is acheived by doing this, but worth a go anyway

Thanks crazycats I've done that it all works now but the drivers window still sits 2 inches from the top and won't go up. I've tried doing the hold the alarm button down but with no joy other than setting the siren off!! Ithink I'll unplug the control box again then wind the windows fully up or down and then plug it back in?
mine did same as yours all i did is drop glass by switch to bottom spray silocone spray into runners leave ten mins run up and down a few times and jobs a good one .it seems to be timed or something but it stopped about an inch from top but now the window is as fast as drivers and is mint.. hope this helps si ps your shafted if you want to sort boot out as controlbox is in boot on rt corner you have to open it to get to it dooh...
Swilkie, I will try that but the light remains on so I think that the car doesn't know that the door is shut, which I think means door panel off to find and align the elusive magnet that is supposed to be in the door somewhere, anyone else with any ideas. Steve Heath's book can't come soon enough, the Chim would have been sorted by now, but I do suppose that every day is a school day!!
Rappa,
If the interior light is staying on then this definitely sounds like the proximity switch located on the door/sill that tells the ECU that the door is open.
Check the alignment/proximity of the two halves by closing the door with a lump of bluetack over the small circular mark on the sill of the car and see if/where the door-mounted part aligns with this. There should be sufficient adjustment on the door-mounted part to get things working properly again.

Hi all
Regarding the window problems I had, and have had once or twice since: If you wind both the windows down, then set the alarm, the windows should go all the way up and problem sorted. I also had it where the window would go all the way up. try raising the iwndow, then keep your finger on the window up button for a few seconds. Keep playing with it and it all seems to work itself out. (Somehow)
As for the boot, behind the carpet there is a solanoid which is attached to the boot release cable. Mine had gone. A standard part and very easy to replace. Also replaced the micro switch and all seems to be fine now.
Although I will always keep a certain tool inside the car from now on ..... just in case !!
