I haven't been able to use the Cerbera for about 5-6 weeks and on trying to start it yesterday was confronted with a very flat battery, tried the booster pack on it with no joy, so I am looking for a new battery, on reading a few threads it appears the Optima red top is the new weapon of choice but can anyone tell me which one from these I need? 96 4.2

I think it's in the equivalent parts stickie thread.
Only thing I could see was a post to try here, but I still don't know which one it is

It's full of water at the moment. Not used in a couple of weeks due to a flat battery. It's still refusing to start when hot which we think is due to the battery so hopefully the new one will sort that.
I've developed a fear of taking it out in case it refuses to start at petrol stations.
Is yours on the mend or does the saga continue?

Never ending saga I'm afraid, Power steering rack is pi$$ing fluid and clutch pedal has zero resistance also waiting on a battery now to get it to fire up lolI've developed a fear of taking it out in case it refuses to start at petrol stations.

Managed to get myself a red top battery, which fired the car up no problem, due to holiday, clutch issue and foul weather I haven't used the car and on trying to fire it up no joy, AA couldn't get it to fire up either
. Surely it's not a battery problem as I only got it at the end of November.
Any ideas for me please?

I found that when trying to start the car after a long period of inactivity, if the car does not fire up after the third or fourth attempt, it will probably be flooded. So best go and have a beer for 15 mins, then come back and try again. repeat until successfull. or pissed.

I had this happen to me several times when I first got mine and was shown this cure by a kindly AA man. So far it has worked first time every time!Edited by Greeny on Saturday 23 January 16:39
Cure for a flooded Cerb:
Remove fuel pump relay from fuse box in boot (brown case).
Turn car over with foot hard down on the throttle until it fires briefly.
Replace fuel pump relay
Start as normal.
