Help please non-starter
Discussion
Took a gamble tonight went to collect 2 of my employees in the Cerb (one of them is V short!) got them crammed in pressed the start button, everything on but wouldn't turn over, no clicking etc from starter nothing. It did something similar last week but sorted itself on 3rd time of trying. This time 2nd time I pressed starter after arming disarming alarm the drivers window goes all the way up (Without pressing alarm fob) but still nothing from starter. Battery checked and fine, jump leads on anyway still nothing. Ended up bump starting it (YES I KNOW!!) and she ran fine but left it running in the drive so could do with some advice sharpish. Had a new starter fitted 2 months ago really don't think its that or battery - sorry for waffling but shes rumbling away outside and would like advice ASAP Thanks
Hi, tried the 4 second reset yes, several times, thats wot sorted it last week but not tonight josephine! Alistair could it simply be a loose wire on starter rather than fully knackered, it was replaced only 3 months ago! How do I get at the starter to check connections etc, its pretty damn dark outside in this here countryside oooarr

BB - you should be covered by a 6 month warranty from the factory on the starter so hopefully you won't have to dig deep again!

Yeah thanks DJ, I got that cheap AA warranty as well where they recover and repair the car..to be honest i'm more worried if she does start next time as I won;t know when its going to happen again, know what I mean?
Oh
. Being able to put faith in the car is really important so it won't spoil your enjoyment. The problem is also bbound to resurface at the most unfortunate time unless you find and fix it. ok, stopped her an hour agon, went to restart her, perfect!! hmmm, that was nearly worst case scenario coz now I don;t trust her! My Brother borrowed her this afternoon, stalled it and he tells me he couldn;t find the start button and tried pressing all sorts before ringing me and I told him where it was...he left it running for me when he brought it back as I was on my way out and the problem occureed the 1st time the ignition was tried since he stalled it...do you think she could have just got confused?
When you press the starter does all the electrics come on, you can hear the fuel pump pressure up but the car doesn't turn over.
If it is then it's been happening to me aswell. First couple of times I turned the alarm on and off and it started ok.
Third time I called the AA. Sod's Law dictates that as soon as the guy in the yellow van says " show us whats wrong then" that everything works.
Anyway, we managed to get it to do it again and without crawling under the car he suspects that it's either a dodgy connection on the starter or something is going wrong with my alarm system which isn't letting power thru to the starter.

Mine's started doing this too. Did it saturday, bump stareted & it's been fine since. Until last night when it did it again, I lifted the boot, shook a few boxes about (one marked ignition) & it started again.
That will be £85 + vat please

Cheques in the post Russ, yeah it sounds exactly the same fuel pump pressures up the whole process is fine until it actually should turn over....black box wiggling here we come!! Started like a goodun this morning so i'm just waiting till she does it somewhere awkward again....its a great pose pushing one of the most beautiful cars in the world onto the pavement!!
Hi Baz, the cars in at Horizon today, removing the steering wheel for new leather, brake pedal switch is ****ed & they're having a look at the starting problem.
This might be coincidental, but we're all having this problem with the heavy rain. Mine is parked down hill at night & catches lots of water that gathers around the filler cap, just above those boxes.
I'll let you know what they find.

Evenin all, just wanted to add, she let me down twice today called AA wanted them to recover it to Blackpool but the little guy was determined to get her running "just so i can hear it!!" So he gets her going at 3.45pm, I ring TVR they tell me to bring it down if they can't fix it they will provide a courtesy car. OK so I get to the factory about 4.30 two mechanics waiting for me, 5.15 i'm leaving with a gratis starter motor and a service booked for Feb with a Griff 500 loan car...GOD I LOVE TVR
I know, the Griff was my original dream but as it didn't have the vital junior seats it was a no goer. I can very much see myself falling in love with the Griff!! Every time I visit that place I am just in awe, its a very traditional place but they just have cars everywhere, scrap bodyshells, press cars, wrecks, prototypes...its just incredible
